My wife got diagnosed with endometriosis 2 years ago, had a laparoscopy and it was somewhat better for about a year; then the last 6 months has gotten progressively worse. Major bowel pain like a scraping / sawing across her bowel, constipation, bloating etc around her period. She had a scare last week after not going to the loo for 5 days and vomiting what looked like blood?
Had some tests which showed inflammation, and then out of the blue got a message from her doc that she’s being referred for an urgent Cancer investigation.
I’ve read the endometriosis mimics cancer in many ways.
Has anyone had a similar scare?

Last year I went through various scans to rule out anything cancer. I had blood show on a fit test as well. All clear on that front, but still had horrendous bowel issues and pain. I’d suggest speaking to GP about script for laxatives, if I don’t have Laxido and lactulose each day I don’t go. It’s important not to let it build up.
Please do pass on to your wife not to worry too much, or you 🙂.
You’re doing a great job with support and it’ll be appreciated.
The support here is great if she has any queries and endo uk has a helpline.
Hi, I got referred to oncology before Christmas after a lump/mass showed up behind my cervix. Thankfully I got the all clear, it is all Endo. It’s good they are checking everything, often to rule things out. I really hope you’re wife gets the all clear. I have had similar symptoms less the vomiting what looks like blood from having Endo. Great to see you are being so supportive, wishing her all the best xx
Hi, yes I had raised inflammatory markers, which my doctor decided to say was an indicator of ovarian cancer. I was devastated to say the least. Was put on a 2 week wait cancer pathway which frightened the life out of me! Anyhow, I had MRI and external and internal scan with a referral to and Endo specialist who was AMAZING. Straight away said you don’t have ovarian cancer it’s endometriosis. I had an exploratory laparoscopic procedure which diagnosed severe endo. I’m now waiting to have the endo removed and cysts from both ovaries. I imagine you and your wife a pretty scared right now. I hope you get to see a fantastic surgeon who specialises in endometriosis. Take care both of you.
It was being put on the 2 week pathway with a raised CA-125 that finally got me referred to gynae. Standard procedure to do that if you test above a certain level.
Try not to worry, I got in a right flap! I got a diagnosis of fibroids and a simple ovarian cyst, at the time...now I'm with a decent consultant, it turns out that is adenomyosis and endometrioma.
