Hey ladies...a few weeks ago I had an appointment with an endo specialist. During the appointment I had an examination which was really uncomfortable and painful..during he remarked that I had a tilted uterus. I had a million things I wanted to ask that I didn’t ask him why this may be!...anyone else have this or anyone with more information / does it relate to endo? Thank you x
Tilted uterus?: Hey ladies...a few weeks... - Endometriosis UK
Tilted uterus?
I’d have to look at paperwork to see which, but mine was. That originally showed on ultrasound or MRI. When it was taken out there were a lot of adhesions. In the letter he put that he had to put anatomy back to normal, the MRI showed uterus pressing on the bladder.I’ll look up which way.
On MRI they put the uterus is anteverted and anteflexed with a horizontal orientation. At both ops it was described as 14 weeks, so slightly enlarged.
Not sure if this helps.
Hello
Yes it's reasonably common I think 1in 5 have a tilted uterus. It can be naturally occurring, or it can occur for example due to adhesions. Having it doesn't mean you are at a higher risk of having endo or anything.
Hi i hope you are keeping well
I was told I have a tilted uterus a few years ago during a dye tube test
& then was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2019 , I have read some information on this apparently it is a common occurrence & it could possibly be related to endometriosis but there’s no definite evidence to suggest this is due to having endometriosis or vice versa .
Although if they have more research in this I think they could be linked as endo can be caused by retrograde menstruation which would occur with a titled uterus x
Hi, Yes it is common with Endometriosis. Mine is!When I tried to get pregnant after sex I would stand upside down against a wall.
With a tilted womb it isnt so easy to fit a Dutch Cap either.

Hi,Hope your well.Mine is tilted backwards and was told by nurses for 20 years my uterus is very high(said its entirely normal for some)so always had issues getting a smear test. Wasn't until 2019 when I was diagnosed with endo I was told it is retroverted being held back with adhesions. My sister has a tilted uterus too but no endo.
Hi... I was told I have one too! Nothing to worry about as is very common and my gyne actually told me that shape can change during or after pregnancy. It can make examination a little more uncomfortable... The nurse may ask you to put ur hands under ur lower back during a smear etc to help them see better..
Hi anniemac, I had a smear test today and nurse could not see cervix and asked me to put hands under my bum which then she could see it, would that mean I probably have a tilted uterus as I have some symptoms since giving birth x
I have been told that I have one too but have no idea whether it’s related to my endo which is severe.
I’d be interested in finding out whether anyone knows for sure
