Anyone else?

Hi ladies, I hope your all well. I just want some advice or to see if anyone else has anything similar?

I’ve been experiencing extreme episodes of pain for a few years now, they are getting worse by the month. Severe pelvic pain, sometimes followed by violent diarrhoea and extreme nausea. I sometimes have abdominal pain when passing urine, almost always have painful bowel movements and bowel urgency. I also get like a weird pressure on my left side that wraps round to my back, under my left rib and it’s only ever my left side. It almost feels like my insides are going to pop? I know that sounds crazy! I get pain in my left hip, it can be a really sharp pain but can also get really achey and sometimes spreads to my upper leg. I had a severe flare up on Wednesday, it started with pain when going for a wee early morning, it was mild pain all day up until about 2:30pm when it became a lot worse, I ended up having to leave work and I mean I literally couldn’t even stand up or walk. I took paracetamol and ibuprofen and it did nothing, then tried codeine and it only took the very edge off the pain. Ever since then I’ve had mild pains in my lower stomach (pelvic area) and still have all the pressure in my left side? I still have extreme nausea and I just don’t know what I should do? Anyone else had similar? Does this sound like it could be endometriosis? Any advice? Thank you in advance!

If you are sexually active is it painful as if you are being rammed up there? And has any doctor done an internal exam on you - fingers up the vagina/bottom - and if so was it painful?

I haven’t been sexually active for a while now but when I was, I had episodes of severe pain a few times after sex but not every time - severe abdominal and pelvic pain, diarrhoea and nausea. No not internal examination, literally only been investigated by gastro doctors as they thought my symptoms were only bowel related but as things are getting worse, it’s becoming more obvious that I think it’s actually gynae related? Was always told it’s just severe IBS but they tried me on multiple medications and nothing worked. Also the more episodes of pain I have, the more I seem to learn about these pains, for example I now write down all my symptoms, when they happened, where the pain is etc.

The most common locations for endo are behind the uterus in what is called the pouch of Douglas, which is a fold in the pelvic lining (peritoneum) between the back of the cervix and the front of the rectum, and the uterosacral ligaments that join the cervix to the sacrum and run along the top of the POD. This is the most common area for endo to become deep as well which is called rectovaginal endo. It almost always affects the left side and typical symptoms are lower back pain referred to the left hip/leg (pain is referred down the sciatic nerve), painful bowel movements/other abdominal symptoms and pain with/after sex (although this can vary depending on the man's size). Women who are finally diagnosed with deep rectovaginal endo will usually have had years of being written off as having IBS. Invariably as it progresses there will be urinary symptoms against a background of general chronic pelvic pain. I think there is a high chance this is what you might have and you need investigating by a specialist in diagnosing endo. Will pm you.
