Advice. Take a bag of items. Make sure to have reading material, a phone charger, a list of questions, some extra money and a handful of spare clothes too. Also have some energy drinks and protein bars in case.

Please don't worry......You've only got to do a very small amount of tomorrow on your own I've had 2 laps and wasn't allowed anyone with me but staff are always around for you and go in with you, hold your hand, and someone will be there when you wake....good luck and try not to let your nerves take over

Hi Jade, please don't be petrified. I had laparoscopic surgery 3 weeks ago and was on my own.As someone else has already said pack your bag well for everything you might want/need.

I packed 2 spare sets of pj's, a dressing gown, 2 books, phone charger, bank card, 3 pairs of pants, some mini toiletries just incase I ended up staying longer than expected.

I didn't need any of it apart from a book but I felt happy being prepared.

It was my 4th lap and it was different from others but it was okay. I arrived to a room on my own but nurses kept popping in to do their checks, consultant and anaesthetist came in, I read my book in between and it went by quickly. When it was time for op a nurse walked me to anaesthetist where there was another nurse who held my hand, they both chatted to me while doing the anaesthetic and the next thing I knew I woke up and another nurse was talking to me.

When I went back to room to recover, someone checked on me every 20 mins. If I wanted anything at all I rang the bell.

I went home after I had managed a drink and biscuits, which was actually the hardest part as throat was so dry. Just drink loads.

Make sure you ask for as many painkillers as you need.

When it was time to leave a nurse took my bag for me and I made sure my husband was right at main entrance before I left room

I promise you can do this. You will be okay xx

Oh Jade, I am so sorry to hear that. Operations are scary. It's the unknown but you are not alone. So many go through this and you will have people there for you when you wake up.One piece of advice is drink lots of water the day before. This will hydrate your body which will really help with the anaesthetic.

Try not to be scared.

Hi sorry I haven’t been great, had a few days off here to recover. I got diagnosed with endometriosis and ovarian fossae. So I have 2 options for treatment plans in January. Heads just been so messy x

Rest and take care of yourself. My op was 4 weeks ago and I'm only just starting to feel like a human being. Be kind to yourself. Endometriosis can be overwhelming but you will be okay, take your time and think about your treatment options xx
