Need some help

I need some support, I’ve been back and forth for 4 years to the doctors about 2 months ago I went to private hospital and was advised it was all due to endometriosis and possibly PCOS. I’m waiting for the op and been prescribed tramadol/lansoprazole/ buscupan and naproxen. But I’m still in a lot of pain. Last night I felt like I had been stabbed multiple times with a hot knife into my lower back and stomach at my right side. I’ve been to the Gp and they advised could be a nodule that’s moved on to a nerve or it could be kidney stones. The pain is getting to the point it’s taking my breath away and I’m so uncomfortable. I just feel this is one thing after another.. I’m trying to diet to drop my BMi to get the op.

Hi have you been given a date for op? It’s good that you’ve seen gynae though so things are moving forward 🙂 The pain isn’t easy, the pain consultant suggested Amitriptyline for nerve pain, but can take a few weeks to build up. I also take either Tramadol or Oramorph depending on pain level. If you think you might be constipated ask GP or Pharmacis, depends on if you pay for prescriptions or not. I do the monthly scheme so much cheaper to get prescription.

Wheat bags are fantastic at times.

Have a look at the forum for diet info, some have found great success by cutting out dairy/gluten or the FODMAP diet.

I'm wondering if moving from naproxen to Mefenamic acid might help. I didn't find naproxen helpful and was moved onto Mefenamic acid, but this was before tramadol was added to my prescriptions. Something to maybe ask your GP about.

I also, in addition to meds, use multiple microwave heat bags (to cover multiple areas. My preference is flaxseed, unscented. I get mine off Etsy from a seller that also wil custom make covers for them that can be thrown in the wash). Some prefer electric heatpads or hot water bottles. But do be careful of burning yourself. Especially when medicated, you can not realise just how hot your heat source it.

On top of the heat bags, I add a tens machine where and when needed. Mine is from Lloyds Pharmacy and was around £20 maybe. I recommend getting the one with two ports rather than one so you can you either two or four pads at a time, as needed. Experiment with the programmes to find the best one for you. I get replacement pads in bulk online. Not all are as good as others. I find paying a little extra for the healthcare world ones is well worth it. They stick well, remain in place, and the pads themselves hold up to tugging when shifting around.

There are some yoga poses/movements or stretches you might find helpful for temporary relief, if you can manage them. I'm not suggesting challenging positions. Again, they won't solve the issue, but sometimes anything that helps at all is better than nothing. Google online for videos such as yoga poses/stretches for sciatica, for example. Look for modification options because while some might not be manageable you might find one that is.

My last suggestion is relaxing, soothing music. Make yourself a couple of playlists and when all else fails make yourself as comfortable as possible, whether in bed, on the couch, on the floor, or elsewhere. Turn out the lights, or put mood lighting on (but I don't recommend live candle flame in case you eventually nod off). Make it as comfy and cozy as possible and try and just focus on the music. When I'm in too much pain to try and distract myself with TV/film, a book, social media, web browsing, games, etc, music is still a possibility.

I wish I had a better solution for you. However, I hope you find something there that helps ease your suffering even a little.

Good luck.
