Hi, I have been getting zoladex/ prostap injections for over 2 years now for my endometriosis and I had the mirena coil fitted as well. Due to covid I haven't had any check up for over a year and get seem to get one. I'm worried about the long term effects of having these injections and although they have worked feel I shouldn't be on these going into a 3rd year. All I want to know is how long does it take to wear off and what's everyone's experience with mire a coil. 😬

Zoladex long term?
Zoladex is only licensed for 6 months and when taken off license you must asked to agree to the unknown risks and give written consent. Presumably this is kept updated? You can refuse consent at any point and not have any more. The time to wear off varies considerably after stopping with the average being 2 - 3 months. But it can be many months for some.
I’m on prostap too and my specialist said I can stay on it a max of five years with tibolone HRT. I’ve done some research and I’m comfortable with this.
You should still be under the consultant’s care that started you on it so I would give the secretary a call and explain, she can then speak to them and potentially book something in. If you don’t have the number then your GP should have a copy of the letters you’ve had from them on the system.
I had it twice once for six months and once for two years with hrt. I now have the coil but never once was it mentioned having both not heard of this before. Coil changed my life, though I know it doesn’t work for everyone. Even if you can’t get in you just have a telephone conversation to discuss it.
