I started the decapeptyl injection in July (I think) and had 3 months worth. I was supposed to go back to the hospital for a review after this (September) to decide whether to continue for another 3 months but due to Covid it has been delayed to December. So I’ve decided to stop them and try and go treatment free until then.
But I stopped my injections in September and still haven’t had a period yet. However, I am getting some period symptoms that I haven’t had before (painful boobs and nipples).
I did a pregnancy test just to make sure I wasn’t pregnant but that was negative.
Can anyone suggest when my periods may come back? The internet suggests 2 months but the longer it goes the more I’m worried that the injection has had more long lasting affects on my body.
Thanks in advance

Hey, thats terrible that they've had to prospone your injections due to COVID. People need care that doesn't involve this new virus.
Anyway, I hope you're coping okay. It took my body 5 months for my period to come back, but I had 2 lots of 7.5mls of decapeptyl spaced out between the 6 months. My first period was so light then there was a mix up with my doctors as COVID started (back in the first uk lockdown) that I was meant to start on cerazette, so I eventually got it and it didn't agree with me. I bleed for 4 months straight but now I've got the coil, I've had it for 5 weeks so I'll see how I get on with that.
The sore boobs etc... I got that too. I think it must be due to the medication working its way out of your body and your reproductive system is gearing up again.
Hi, I’ve had the 3 month injection 11.5mg. It put me in a complete chemical menopause. I’m coming to near end of 3 months and it’s still as strong as from the beginning. I had an ablation on Friday 13th, day 4 post ablation and my hot flushes are worse than ever. I reckon I’m now in a complete menopause. Forced menopause. I feel horrible and drained. I will never know what’s it like to naturally phase into the menopause. I’m going through hell. Forced menopause is unnatural and far worse than going through it naturally. I had pmt right up until I had that injection. 47 years old and never missed a period. Even had the munches on the second week of each month. All my cravings from from once a month completely diminished. My body will never, ever be the same again. Truth be told I feel totally violated.
