Hey everyone! I’ve only just been formally diagnosed with endometriosis and have surgery scheduled in 5 weeks time. I’ve seen people mention about leg pain during flare ups, but I wondered if anyone had issues with nerve pain in the groin area? It is suspected that my endo has managed to interfere with nerves in that area and this has caused me issues with standing/walking for weeks now. I wondered if anyone experienced anything similar? I’m so worried the surgery may not aid this or may make it worse.

Hi,
It is great to hear that you have a formal diagnosis as that can take a while sometimes!, how long did you have to wait to get a surgery date if I may ask?, I can sympathise as I’ve also had a lot of problems regarding this, I feel like within the groin area It gets more intense with flare ups and radiates really badly to the legs as well as on a daily basis. I’ve definitely experienced similar things, as I am unable to stand or sit down for a prolong time and my doctor thinks it must be suppressing within that area as to why it is affecting me so much. Hopefully during the surgery they should be able to remove as many adhesions as they can. I think It is worth mentioning to your specialist if you haven’t already before the operation about your worries and see what they say this on whether there is that risk in making it worse?
Hope this helps x
Hey I was diagnosed with Endo back in august this year but haven’t had anything removed yet due to it being deep infiltrating rather than superficial so have to wait for further surgery. I have it on my pouch of Douglas and uterosacral ligaments. I’d never heard of either of these before the surgery! I get pain daily and one of the things I find most difficult is walking. I can’t really walk any longer than 15 mins or so at a time and struggle being on my feet for a long time. I can’t even really explain why but it’s just painful. I get awful pains down my legs as well. Been like this for almost 2 years now. I feel the same about the surgery but am at the point where I would try anything really to hopefully relieve the pain x
I’m on amitriptyline for nerve pain from the consultant, helps a bit. It’s only up to 50mg for nerve pain. GP should be able to help you with something for the pain.
Not too long for surgery, which is a good thing 🙂
Hi there,
Endo can definitely affect the nerves, as it is such an invasive condition. I explained it to my kids like glue strands. It grows onto and between everything, and then it starts to pull it all together, the longer it has time to develop. I'm glad you have surgery scheduled soon. Once the Dr has severed all the ties your pain should get better.
Bear in mind that the recovery time is about 3 months, the pain will still be bad, because of all the areas that will be affected during the surgery.
I sincerely hope that all goes well with your surgery and recovery. Take it easy, give your body time to heal.
Z x
Oh yes I do. Will reply soon.
