Hi,

I have had 8 weeks off work since my last lap, I messaged my manger on Thursday about going back on Tuesday but i started bleeding last night my first period since my operation and for nearly 6 months seeing as I was on zoladex.

I have no idea how my body is going to be with this period. My question is do I be completely honest with him and say I would rather just stay off for another week in case it’s really bad and then I have to phone in sick after being off for so long which will then be a unauthorised absence or do I just say I’m sorry but I’m in to much pain still?

I would just say your sorry but your still in too much pain.......saves getting another sickness absence added to your employment record

First period after lap and zoladex might be a bit much while working and you don't need the stress while your body is still recovering.

Maybe suggest first wk back to work is on reduced hours so you can build yourself up to normal working routine.

I’d get your GP to extend your sick note so then you’re employer can’t take it out on you personally xx

I would not lie to your employer but would speak to your GP and explain that given the circs you do not feel ready to go back to work would like to extend your sick note. I'm sure they will.

Just explain to your employer your not fully fit you don't have to say anymore than that.

Also speak to your GP about a FIT note as your GP can suggest a phases return to work if you feel you need it.
