Does tramadol help ?

I’ve been prescribed tramadol by my specialist after naproxen failed to even touch the pain in my last cycle. Was wondering if it helps with endo pain & how often should i take it ? Also do i take it when my pains start in full force or can i take it as soon as i feel them about to start?

Hi when my pain starts I usually take a naproxen to see if that helps. If it doesn’t then I take tramadol. I take it as often as I need it on that particular day to the maximum dosage that I can.

It makes me really sleepy and drunk like so I can’t drive on it. Hope you find that this medication helps you x

Hi!

Tramadol does help. I take it along with Mefenamic acid (naproxen didn't help. Changed to Mefenamic acid then later added tramadol).

I've learned to recognise my flare ups through trial and error. Some days heat is enough (I have been in a long term love affair with my microwave heat bags). I also utilise a tens machine. Rarely these are enough on their own.

If you know you have a bad flare started, take your meds. Don't wait for it to get bad. Everyone's metabolism is different but it can take me an hour and a half to two hrs for tramadol to counter my pain. That is an hour and a half or so of excrutiating pain I could have avoided by taking my meds as soon as I knew it was coming on.

I suspect that you, like most sufferers, can recognise when you are getting the recognising signs that you are racing towards a bad pain day.

That said, I am prescribed up to 2 pills every 6 hrs (as needed) I will usually start with one and only take the second if I need to. Likewise, if the effects haven't worn off, or started to, I don't take another dose. Tramadol has the ability to be addictive so it is important to only take it when you know you need it. It can also lose its effectiveness over time so taking the lowest dose needed will help to ensure your body doesn't build up a tolerance to the point it doesn't help any more.

Ultimately I hope it helps you.

Hi, Sarah

I use tramadol and find it to be a effective at pain relief and to help me. I take it when I feel that the pain is becoming uncomfortable and hard for me to manage and use my wheat bag first and then take tramadol. I find it works within 30 minutes and one tablet is normally enough as sometimes I take it If at work.

Hope this helps

Take care x
