I have been prescribed both for heavy periods and suspected endo!
Doctor told me to start both as soon as bleeding starts! She advised the tranexamic is to reduce the bleeding, however my heaviest days are days 1-3. Surely day 1 im still going to be so heavy as the tablets won't have enough time to get in my system and reduce the bleeding!
Any advice would be great please!
Also, does anyone take other pain relief alongside the mefanamic acid?
On another note, the doctor also advised the potential returned endo should not affect my fertility. Does anyone agree / disagree?
4 years ago, I had loads of endo removed and fell pregnant with my first baby 3 months after the laparoscopy. Immediately after trying to conceive. Wondering if the returned endo will now affect my fertility as not planning on a laparoscopy till after baby no 2.
Thank you x

I was prescribed Tramexamic Acid on a daily basis every day. But my periods were not regular and I had breakthrough bleeding as well. Mefenamic Acid as and when for pain initially and was later prescribed tramadol along side it.
Pain wise I take both more days than not now (along with Omeprazole for the side effect of the Mefenamic Acid). This was not the case initially, but over the last couple of years the pain has become significantly worse and occurs more days than not now. I also use multiple heat bags and have had to dig out my tens machine again too (I use to use it and discontinued when it stopped helping which I think may have been because I lost sensitivity to it from using it so much). I am immensely relieved it has been helping again as it has been the only saving grace in my sanity recently when meds and heat have not cut it on their own).
As for fertility, endo does have the potential to affect it. This isn't something I've had to consider as I was diagnosed with PCOS many years before endo came up on the radar. At that time I was told I'd be unlikely to conceive without IVF and I decided against this. I would suspect that the amount of growth and where exactly the endo occurs would be a significant determinator in how much any chance it could affect your fertility. You will likely already know this can't be verified without surgery.
Remember that if you are not satisfied with the care you are receiving you can always ask for a referral from you GP to get a second opinion. If this is something you want to explore, I'd recommend checking out Drs online to see if there is a specialist in endo (or atleast special interest in it) local to you that you can ask to be sent to.
I have been prescribed the same. I was diagnosed with endo through laparoscopy over a year ago. I take my mefanamic acid every day, three times a day for pain relief. I have not taken the tranexamic acid yet because I do not have severely heavy periods. I will take it if this starts happening.
Endo specialists told me that because my endo is on my uterosacral ligaments, that fertility should not necessarily be affected at this point. It depends on where the endo is and how severe it is. However, fertility could always be an issue. Regardless of endo or not. So we will see. I am nearly 31 and I have always wanted to be a mother.
I hope the medication helps you and that you get some more answers! Lots of love! X
