23 years old and suffering daily

I’ve always had terrible periods so I ended up getting the coil beginning of last year, my periods stopped and that was the best feeling ever.. unfortunately that didn’t last long. November last year I started getting these excruciating pains which got progressively worse to the point of being rushed in to hospital via ambulance. I’ve undergone X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, blood tests the lot and yet all came back normal. I’m finally being referred to gynae after almost 11 months of suffering with this excruciating pain and I’m hoping they’ll take me in for a lap to finally get an answer!

Any tips on how to cope with the pain until then would be really helpful, I’m running out of options!

Mefenamic acid is good, with paracetamol or cocodamol.. on amazon they have these cooling patches that are really good. Have you tried a different contraceptive? I didn’t find the coil helped much, but different pills, depo etc helped for a while before my body got used to them. A TENS machine was also a good investment! X

Unfortunately paracetamol and cocodamol doesn’t help with the pain, at the moment I’m on codeine and even that doesn’t help entirely. Due to having such bad periods all throughout my teenage years, I’ve been on every contraception apart from the implant (heard awful things about them), the coil has been the best thing for me as far as periods go. I’m definitely going to look at getting a tens machine! I’ve just recently purchased a heating pad but I think a TENS machine would be a good buy. Thank you!

I find co codamol isn’t alone but in combination with mefenamic acid it works much better. Have you asked to see a pain specialist?

I’ve been prescribed codeine but really don’t want to end up relying on it. I have a doctors appointment this week to undergo tests before I’m referred to a specialist so I’m going to speak with them about medications.

hey, im 19 and im having the same problems but im taking a combined pill. painkillers never help me but i keep a hot water bottle on my pelvic area to help soothe the pain and thats the only thing that seems to work for me x
