Took just over an hour!! Getting the spinal in was the worst hit as we struggled for a good 25 mins getting it in three. How nice is the feeling of propofol knocking you out lol next min I'm in recovery. The pain is awful won't lie not the pain I expected though I thought it would be a stinging pain but it's like severe severe period cramps I had spinal but only my legs were numb and can move them now so it's worn off, had 2x blue morphene tabs, 2 cocodamol and some paracetamol xxxx

Not as long as I thought it would be. Surprised they have given pain relief intravenously. Let them know, they might be able to up it.
I think I’d have run at the idea of the spinal, have to have knocked me out to do it in the first place !

I had it done open surgery lovely. Big cut through the abdomen took it away luckily I had my ovary left but everything else gone. The pain when I woke was immense its gone from a 9 to 6. Was only in there just over an hour. And had a spinal block that worn of when I came out of theatre didn't really work on me at all and he struggled for a good 25mins getting it in. I'm now on morphene tablets codeine and paracetamol xx
I wish you a quick recovery. Please let us know as you get better whether you feel better won’t you....be good to know how different your pain is once healed, hopefully gone forever xx
I've had a c section before so kinda thought the pain would be similar but it's totally different and far worse. Thank you so much, I will let you know. Have you not had hysterectomy xxxx

Not yet. I have suspected adenomyosis and a lot of backache they say on ultrasound it looks like it’s adeno and my womb is tilted backwards towards the spine. Next step maybe to have to womb out I think?

Awww thank you. Iv been awake since around 10.30pm last night not slept a wink could not get comfortable what so ever. Got physio coming in at 8am to try get me out of bed not lpoki g forward to that xxxx

Hi, I also had a total hysterectomy and some slicing on bowel... Jan 19... the first two weeks after surgery were the most uncomfortable - remember all that air they pump you up with... if you put a pillow under the backs of knees when sitting it really takes the pressure off. I did that every time I sat down for a month... do things slowly and try not to do too many stairs to begin with, think of the downward pressure...
did you keep ovaries or not?
If you’d like any advice- I’m happy to pass on any nuggets of advice...

Yes kept ovary in end was urs open surgery iv been sliced from hip to hip just got out bed in chair was horrendous feels like I've had a tummy tuck lol xxx

Wow, no I had many but small incisions... that’s severe for you. Can recommend looking at the hysterectomy association website - so informative. I struggled with finding someone who had gone into surgical menopause and didn’t want to take HRT... If you can get the book; 101 handy hints for a happy hysterectomy - I can’t tell how much it helped me... some invaluable healing recipes for drinks and gentle things to do, advice and tips....
THe cushion under knees when sitting up in bed will really help you, more so with open... a good healing food is pineapple... drink plenty of water... meditation, relaxation...Lavender oil on your pjs, camomile tea, milk, oat milk ... before bed.

I am sorry that you are suffering in pain. I had a hysterectomy at 39yrs and had horrific pain , the morphine was not touching it. It felt like I was being torched inside. A pain specialist came to see me and gave me much stronger medication. Don’t hesitate to ask for something struggler. You need to rest in order to heal.

Yes it’s really early days & ull need some stronger stuff - like Orimorph along with paracetamol works well together, I had this for a good few days after & will help you get some good sleep too 👍.

No neither did I, the liquid is much quicker & effective so don’t leave it too late before taking them, I would take them every 4 hours for a few days & see how you get on as Ull probably need them & will make you feel bit more comfortable & well & truly in your system.

Iv Been taking peppermint oil capsules still no wind lol but now iv been taking the pain meds every 4 hours it's still there the pain but took the edge off. I knew it wouldn't dissappear I'm not even 48 hours post op yet but least it's took the edge off xxxx

Yes and that's when they ll be like oh go for a walk when you really dont want to! The first days after op are awful but hopefully next few weeks will be much better for you xxx

I thought yesterday was the worst but no today is, every time I bloody move. They only sent me home with enough pain relief for over the weekend do I call the gp tomorrow and ask for some more, or will I not be allowed anymore I don't know how it works xx
So annoyed had to have the catheter put back in I was bursting and just couldn't go. I've got urinary retention. What a set back xx

I'm going home in around 40mins the district nurse is coming out to see me iv got some spare catheters and also spare bags to change it. I'm in agony now iv got oramorph to take home and codeine with a box of paracetamol xx

I'm home now in agony.... They want me to travel 5 miles Monday morning to the district nurse to get this catheter out, then another appointment to travel another 5miles at 4.30 I said so when u take the catheter out at 9.30 what if I still can't pee he said we'll you wait till 4.30.... How am I meant to not go for 7 hours. I could cry I'm in so much pain xxx
I am so sorry you’re having to deal with this,
I thought district nurses came to the house. Covid stuff shouldn’t make any difference to that.
If you are lying on your back put a pillow under your knees to take some pressure off.
If things don’t improve don’t be afraid to get some advice. You have to be incredibly careful of infection. I don’t know for sure but catheters may increase the risk, do be vigilant.
Try not to think about what may happen, you’ve managed so well with this.
If you do have to contact anyone medical and they say go in I think you’ll end up at a normal hospital, which is probably a better solution, they will be better equipped for this.

Oh it's not to do with covid.... The hospital sent referral to district nurses and apparantlty I don't qualify cos I'm only 29. Didn't know age had anything to do with it, I can't walk I'm scoring a good 9/10 pain wise I can't pee hence the catheter and house bound how do i not qualify. Yes catheters are risk for infection I think they've knocked my bladder or something during surgery which is why I can't pee. I can't get over the pain today it's just horrendous xxxx

Give the district nurses a call in the morning, age should have nothing to do with it. This is based on condition rather than age.
I don’t know what the level of pain is likely to be, but you know your body and what feels ‘right’ in a way, sort of.
I knew last year it was physical, not stress, cost me to prove it to GP, but great satisfaction.

Hey sweetie I slept on seatee honestly was most comfortable for me to do that and I wasn't having to go up and downstairs during night for pain meds. Didn't sleep that well but did get. A little sleep although when I woke up it was agonising today's been the worst day for pain but since I've been taking the pain meds every 4 hours it's for sure took the edge of I'm not even 48 hours post op yet so I can't expect to much. My mother and father in law have just travelled 2 hours to come and see me with a get well card and a beautiful real gold bracelet that she passed down to me did make me cry!! How r u today?? Going to the dicteict nurse clinic Monday at 9.30am to get this catheter out xxxxx
That was a lovely gesture from them, helps to know people are on your side.
It is early but be careful. Sofas can be very comfortable for certain positions.
Do you think you’ll be ok travelling on Monday? I’m sure they’d come out to you.
Once I’ve got to sleep the last couple of nights I think I’ve slept better and thought pain easier yesterday, but knock on effects this morning 😂, it’s a no win, but new things don’t always work straight away, he did say the amitriptyline takes time.

How r u feeling today I took the catheter out and can pee wasn't happy about travelling 5 miles in a bumpy blac cab I'm also struggling to control my pain it's OK one min then the next it's agony. Rather stay at home. I'm hoping the amytryptline will work for u, u need breaks from pain love xxxx

Having same issues with sleep, just taken some morphine, gut is not a happy bunny! Hopefully that will help get back to sleep.

They don’t need to check it, that’s good. I’ve no experience of those, hopefully something I will avoid.
If you’re not up to it by mid week they’ll come to you. Or is it hospital for staples? If it is district nurse and they still refuse, tell them if anything goes wrong you’ll complain to the CQC and nursing council. They’ll probably change their mind.
I refused to have one back on the premises for someone else, said I’d call the police for trespass. She’d made a very insensitive comment. Had to repeat it about a year later, never saw her again.
Thank you for sharing your experience though, gives me an idea what to expect. I can’t see any other option.

Not good. If the cut is getting red and /or weepy, be careful of infection. I’ve not had much experience of ops, I’m sure it shouldn’t be causing this issue?

hi hun I rely feel for you. I have a rely sever form of endo and had ten surgery's before my total hysterectomy 2 years ago and I am still suffering now I have had a further 3 surgery's and I am waiting for another big opp! but what I want to tell you is that after every surgery I have had I suffer urine retention and have to be catheterised for weeks at a time. They said with me its a combination of anaesthetic and sensitive bladder. but for me when I have had mine taken out I can never pee straight away and had to keep trying over a couple of days! and they have always done this for me with me staying in hospital and also with iv antibiotics because of high risk infection with catheter in and out! so please stand your ground and tell them they have to come to you! it is really unfair of them to expect you to travel to them. I am sorry for rattling on! And I relay wish you well and a speedy recovery. but please stand your ground!

They were wanting me to travel 10 mile all round trip 5 miles there r back to get the catheter out I took it out myself last night as I was passing blood and little clotts in it strange. I rang the hosp and told them I was not getting in a taxi with a catheter and in so much pain with my scar to have it took out aparantley I don't meet the criteria for the district nurse even though the hospital sent the referral out for the district nurse as the hospital wanted them to come out to me but the district nurse is refusing lol. So if I get any infection cos I took it out myself il state they refused to come to me. It's the pain I seem ok one min then it's horrendous the next xxxx
You have been sent home very early to be left to cope with all this with no medical help. I was in there 4 nights, though should have left after 3, and had real trouble coping first few days at home without that hospital bed that you just press a button on to sit up. I only got paracetamol in hospital so continued with that. It is so great to come home but so hard too. Keep an eye on those scars and don't overdo it. Staples sound even more irritating than the dissolvable stitches X

Yeah I defo feel like ide come home to early just getting up and going to the toilet is a chore so breathless. Tired. Painful iv had hardly any sleep since thur and only had around 2hours last night moan moan moan moan moan that's all I feel like iv done. Least u know what it's like afterwards bloody awful xxxx

Everyone just heals differently don't they. I was fine after a c section that was an emergency and under general anastetic. Yet this I'm really really struggling. Xx

I don't know he said that's the only way that he would do it for me... I've had a c section before so thought oh I know what to expect did I shite the only thing I can do is crawl the stairs around 2 miles per hour lol to use the toilet. It's awful xxx

No I feel like I'm getting worse the first day after my op I managed to get out of bed and wash myself, 5 days post op I can't even get up the stairs I can't stand straight either and walk g crouched over in almost a c shape and carrying my tummy. If I don't support my tummy it's horrendus now the scar has had a little bit of blood weeping from it this morning and a tiny bit of yellow type fluid not much but enough to mark the dressing though. Iv had to call them and say something I was full on screeching with the pain to my husband last night xxx

Have you thought about heading back to hospital? I really think you need some stronger IV drugs to allow you to rest, get that wound looked at before it gets infected and get some sleep, or give your body a break from the pain?
Post surgery I was still using liquid morphine at nighttime for 2 weeks, sleeping and dozy but it gave my body time to heal xxx

Did u have abdominal hysterectomy too. My hubby playing hell saying i need to rest and I must sleep I'm trying to sleep but I just keep dozing for 30 min max then back wide awake. I feel like all I'm doing is moaning xxxx

You need to go back to hospital and get checked you’ll be exhausted. And when you say playing hell I guess you mean because he’s concerned about you and scared, not angry?
I’ve had surgery for endometriosis, but both my parents have had extensive surgeries and I’ve cared for them during recovery.
Cramping over and not being able the straighten isn’t a good sign, im concerned you may be harbouring an infection.
Also lack of sleep won’t be helping recovery, you need either a district nurse to check your surgery scar or you need to go to hospital.

No he's not angry lol he's worrying. For some reason when I try to stand up straight my body's just not letting me as if there's something pulling me back I can only walk if I'm crouched. The gp has prescribed me some anti bitotics the pharmacist is delivering them this morning so I'm hoping they will help. Iv had about 7 hours sleep since thursday xxxx
