Prostap injection : Didnt know prostap... - Endometriosis UK
Prostap injection
My understanding is is more for hormones, it’s used in breast cancer for that reason. I’m on Zoladex which is the same thing, haven’t had any issues like that, if I had I wouldn’t have stayed on it.
If you’re unwell on it speak to GP or consultant, effects can be different for people.
I’m on Decapeptyl which is used for prostate cancer. I lose hair normally thanks to my PCOS but it’s not been any more than normal. I wouldn’t worry about it, but if you’re unsure, you can speak to your GP or pharmacist
Prostap isn’t chemo - as moon_maiden said it’s a hormone treatment - but it is used in combination with chemo for people being treated for prostate and breast cancers (so be careful not to worry yourself looking at side effects for people receiving a combination of cancer treatments).
You can read the patient leaflet, which lists all possible side effects, here: medicines.org.uk/emc/files/... (it can sometime be hard to get a look at the one in the pack because nurses discard the packaging!).
Lots of the side-effects are common with menopause (and menopause can often lead to thinning/change in quality of your hair), which makes sense because prostap effectively puts you into an artificial menopause to stop the cycle of Endo growth/breakdown that causes the pain.
Obviously speak to your doc if you’re worried, but I found prostap helped me SO much. The pain relief was worth it for (for me) some relatively minor side effects. My hair’s a bit dry these days, but I’m not on the floor in agony!
Well my experienced with porstap was horrible, gained weight, lost hairs, foggy mind, speak diffuculties, severe depression, blur vision and much more.what are your symptoms ?if they are worst or getting worst by time, you have to listen your body and stop them immediately, speak to your GP.
Hope it helps.
