After years of chronic pain, fatigue and bleeding I have finally had a successful operation to remove the endometriosis around my ovaries and bowel. They also replaced the mirena coil.
I couldn’t stop crying with relief yesterday, but I’m also aware of how it can grow back.
Would anyone be happy to share their experiences of what happened to them after a successful op?
I just want to have realistic expectations and know what to look out for.

I had a successful lap back in the beginning of January 2020. My pain almost completely disappeared, it was manageable with over the counter pain relief and heat pads at its worst. My energy levels were also significantly better. My flow was still quite heavy, but I’m just relieved the pain subsided!
Unfortunately in the last month or so it has returned. So all in all, I went 6 months almost completely forgetting I even had endometriosis.
Hopefully you’re also now under an endometriosis specialist consultant now?
Hello, I had my lap last july and it was probably November I had pains again. But I did not have any coil fitted as I refused from previous trouble having one. I am not on any type of birth control. Hope you don't have any further pain!
When I had my 1st Lap was put on Provera for 18 months, I am not a fan of the coil so it was not an option for me. Provera worked for me as I was comfortable for the 1st time in years. Had 2nd Lap 3 years later as there were signs that something was wrong turned out to be fibroids and new Endo. Everyone's healing and reacurrance time is different. Enjoy your new self hope it lasts for a long time 🤞😊
I was so hoping the medical community could have found a cure for endo by now! I had complete hysterectomy about 30 years ago for endo. I learned to not take any hormones for about six months because any trace of endo left inside will grow on the estrogen. I had it on my bowels. I felt better and have been on very low dose of estrogen patch for decades. As I got older I have weaned myself off of estrogen and am looking into herbal. Hysterectomy did cure it. Wish everyone the best!
