Clear scan.. Next steps

Just had my test results back from my TV scan which came back clear, I've never had a normal period in my life so this has really surprised me. Still in pain, bloated, puking, very heavy, random, painful legs and so tired, not functioning but nobody believes me. What now? GP doesn't seem to see the point in pushing any further for any more tests. Gastro team have recommended I don't go onto the pill so I don't know can /will happen next. Sorry this is largely a rant, just so tired. Waiting for a call back from my GP but she just keeps calling it the woman's curse 😒

Your GP has a duty of care to keep you pain free, strange as it seems but I find male GPs more understanding, mine was. So push for more tests such as ca125 blood test.

Thank you, it's a nice reminder that it's okay to be frustrated. And yes I've found that too actually. The male GP who referred me to the scan was absolutely lovely but he was only a temp. Just spoken to my GP and put my foot down and got a refferal to a couple finally! It's a start of something at least. Supposedly a gynaecologist wrote notes on my scan results but worryingly the receptionist told me there was nothing written on it all and she could only assume that meant it's clear. I really hope the gynaecologist is a little more in the ball. It's been about 13 years now. Def need to push for that test, I've had it tested in hospital but it was never followed up.

I saw 2 female gynos who completely dismissed my sumpiring and put it down to age and hormomes. I eventually saw a male gyno and he was so caring and understanding - he knew straight away it was endo. Gosh I hate female gynos

Thank you, I think that's a really good idea about keeping a diary. I just called back my GP and she kept trying to say I should be happy the scan is clear, I had to explain to that a clear scan doesn't automatically make the pain go away. Proud of myself though, told her I was exhausted of being pushed around and I've been referred to a gynaecologist who will hopefully have a better idea. Thanks for the feminax suggestion! Am currently on cocodomal, transnamic acid and mefanmic acid but it doesn't really touch anything so will look into that. Thank you! X

I'd suggest going to another GP, I'm very blessed my GP is very keen on women's health and she's pushing for everything for me. Sometimes you just need the right person who just gets it and shows interested and is in the know x

I am so sorry to read your post... the frustration of trying to be understood by some medical staff is unbelievable. This happened to me many of times once I went the the docs.. previous notes showed I had been before with same issues, and was told it was a pulled muscle... this pain was there at this point for close to 5 years!! Please don’t give up and keep pushing, even though you’ve been told your referred keep pushing for updates each few weeks if you haven’t heard anything, understandably delays at the moment which adds more stress. One thing I always seems to start a flare up was stress, easier said that done but try and keep clear mind, also I agree with feminax!! They are a life saver and also if your bloated and nauseous try Buscopan, they help me when I am bloated and feeling just general crappy cause when my endo flares it then affects my bowels. Both available over the counter and in supermarkets:). Hoping you get seen soon as a diagnosis is made. xx

The only way to 100% diagnose endometriosis is with a laparoscopy. During my lap I was found to have severe Endo on my ovaries and my bowel was stuck to my pelvis with adhesions. Prior to the op I had numerous scans and tests to try and determine what was causing the pain and they were all clear.

That was 20yrs ago and my symptoms are getting worse again I had another ultrasound recently which showed nothing except they got mixed up labelling my ovary as the left one was far over to the right side which due to my history they assume they are now stuck to the right side(I have all my pain on the right).

You really need to push for a laparoscopy if you want to know 100% what is wrong.

Hope you get some answers x

I’m just echoing what has already been said but I’ve had 2 TV scans with no endo found, 3 months later when I had lap it was everywhere and I was diagnosed with stage 4 rectovaginal endo 😬 keep pushing for lap and if pain is underneath make sure your surgeon knows to check there. Also remember to push for an endo specialist not a gynaecologist 😊 good luck xx

Hi, sorry to hear your unwell and have been for sometime . I experienced similar to you and last year had too had had enoungh. Go sent for a scan - identified fibroids but wasn’t go to do anything. I then got referee to gynea - they didn’t even look at my scan results and suggested a coil - even though I had already had one and it repelled out- this woman was rude, did not listen and looked at her phone throughout my consultation ! I then went back to the GP and raised this issue of a rude woman and her wanting to fit another coil - and I do not want this again. I went for a private appointment, who was excellent, examined me immediately, sent for scan and did biopsy - he immediately seen from my scan I had adenomyosis. I don’t usually push matters , I trusted professionals- but have come to the conclusion that you know your own body, if something isn’t right then we need to push at times, to get it out right . I’m now very happy pain and bleeding free, functioning at work and in play, emotionally balance female :) I wish you all the best, keep on with moving forward , it’s a shame women have to push for this but it does seem to be a matter not sharing much empathy unless you have experienced it yourself x

I would keep on at your GP to have further tests till you get some results to explain your symptoms. I had to go to several different hospitals as the doctors had not known anything like my symptoms. I had rectal bleeding with clots and heavy periods with clots. Hence, I had to have an emergency hysterectomy at 28 years old. I am now 64, but still have rectal bleeding. Do not give up.
