Just got home from my lap, they found nothing. No endo which is good but also bad, I had a name for the pain for a while but not any more. So I have no answers for why I'm so tired all the time and in so much pain, people will accuse me of putting it "on"again. So fed up and tired and not sure what to do next, feel like crying :(

Hello. This hasn't happened to me but I do know of ladies on this forum that have had multiple laps that come up as all clear and then eventually they find the endo. I hope you find your answers though xx

Don't forget that adeno cannot be seen at a laparoscopy but causes much the same symptoms.

And now that no endo was found the next step is to get checked for adeno.

It's not surgical. An MRI scan while you have a period or just after a period is how Adeno is diagnosed.

adenomyosisadviceassociatio... is the website for all things adeno.

Surgery doesn't rule out endo - not completely but at least it is fab news you don't have it. Fantastic news in fact. But do carry on pushing for a diagnosis. Adenomyosis is so similar - but it is only bleeding within the uterus muscle walls. And is curable too. Much rarer than endo - but a hysterectomy would enable it all to be removed if you do have it.

Thank you both, feel a little better today. Made a plan of action, going to keep a pain diary and keep going back to the doctors. I have had all the pills, coil, depo and implants possible so not going back there as they made me ill or a mad woman lol. Plan is to ask for a hysterectomy, not sure they will let me have one as "everything down their is healthy", but I have 3 wonderful kids, don't want anymore as I am missing out already with my 6yr old and feel to old to have another one. So I feel ok about asking to get rid of something that is giving me do much pain and interfering with my day to day life. Sorry for the rant and I hope everyone has as much of a pain free day as possible xx

I have also heard of this happen. But you know what some gyneas shouldn't be in that job at all because they can miss endo and just not see it, really not knowing what they are doing even when they are looking for it. Then the woman goes to the next gynea still in pain, has another lap and low and behold has endo. I am not saying this has happened to you, but is a possibility x

Hello - I had the same experience. Lap and they told me no endo. It's horrible as you think - what now? I still hurt! Not that I wanted Endo but I wanted something done to help stop the pain and appallingly heavy periods. Obviously I've read that this doesn't necessarily mean I don't have it and I do believe that it can be missed as per the ladies' comments above. That happens I am sure. There are a lot of people who are more experienced than me who give excellent advice on this forum. However, I saw a well known and very highly respected gynae based in Sussex on Wednesday this week (he has been positively mentioned on this forum I believe, although it might have been some other forum. If I'm allowed to I can pm is name if it would help anyone in this area) regarding prolapse problems and he also felt that it was unlikely that I had endo - he had reasons which he went through with me and they made sense. He did say that women can have excruciatingly painful periods but not be suffering with Endo or Adenomyosis, as they aren't the only causes. Although that still could be the case for you. I was fitted with Mirena at the time of my lap over five months ago and I've just finished a 7 week period (after hardly any gap from the one before), depression worsened and my skin has had huge infected acne nodules which ended up making my glands in my throat swollen and painful as they fought the infection, I felt ill and I still had relatively bad period pain. Better, but not by enough. So this gynae has recommended that Mirena comes out, he said he wouldn't have fitted it anyway for my situation, and I'm going to have endometrial ablation which isn't just something that is done to help endo. It can help painful periods generally. Also doesn't come with side effects once healed from it. He took his time, talked a lot and listened more which was so vastly different from the first gynae I saw (in this round of problems). Don't give up - keep that pain diary and keep seeing doctors until they do something that helps you! One more thing - this is just one consultant's opinion so I'm merely repeating it. I don't want to put you off any course of action that may help you. This particular gynae has told me that hysterectomies don't always solve the problem and can cause new pain and problems as a result. I don't know - as I said I'm just passing his comment on. I don't have a view myself on this - I've gone a long time wishing I could just have things removed so that I didn't have the pain! Good luck and best wishes. Deb

Same here. My first lap 4 years ago showed nothing. But I hurt so much I stopped moving and gained lots of weight. I still was hurting, but not as severe. Then I lost the weight by moving again (walks and such), the pain returned to the level it was before. Got another lap and ♫♪ ta da ♫♪ stage 3 endo.
