Asthma inhaler

My wife is asthmatic. She is prescribed Clenil Modulite 200mcg. Unfortunately the pharmacy that normally provides her medication has had no stock for over a month and can give no intimation when new stocks will be received. They do have 100mcg in stock but can only provide this with a new prescription from my GP. Unfortunately my GP surgery is closed due to the coronavirus pandemic and there is no one there who can assist. The telephone only has a recorded message advising what to do if you think you have the virus. We left a written message at the GP surgery over a week ago asking for a new prescription (in an insecure box outside the surgery) but so far we have not heard anything. There is no one who can assist. The pharmacy can do nothing. It seems that the whole medical organisation has closed and is only dealing with Covid-19. Nothing else matters. It is very frustrating.

Hi,

It's a horrible situation, clenil inhalers have been in short supply in quite a few places recently. I had to try 3 different pharmacies to get mine. As far as I understand the system, you can go to another pharmacy that might have it in stock and ask for an emergency prescription. (Sorry if you've already tried this). This is the NHS page with advice:

nhs.uk/common-health-questi...

Theres also a link on that page to 111 online which can help direct you to an emergency prescription if going to other local pharmacies doesn't work.

I hope this helps. If all else fails, try getting through to 111 on the phone and speak to someone. Inhalers are a life saving medicine so you're definitely eligible for help from them if you can't get it anywhere else.

Take care x

Managed to get hold of 100 mcg inhaler, which was in stock. Ordered online via GP website (Patient.co.uk). Took over days to get it though. Many thanks for advice.
