Hello, hope you can help. I was diagnosed with deep endometriosis by MRI scan just before the Coronavirus outbreak and was due to go into Hospital for a blood test to look at my egg store and then explore endometriosis removal options to help with fertility. That will all be delayed now for quite some time I imagine and am worried that in the meantime the endometriosis could grow worse. Make things worse further down the line. I was previously on the pill for a long time so is it possible that now I am off the pill the endometriosis could grow? Or does it only grow after you’ve had it removed? If so I wonder if I should be going back on the pill to manage it? Thanks in advance and take care x

Does Endo grow?
Hi, it carrys on growing, everytime u have a period that helps it to grow too, I've been diagnosed with stage 4, I've had an MRI to see how deep it's gone, the consultant told me to go bk on yo some sort of contraception till I can have surgery to help slow down the growth, I went for the depo injection and that has stopped my periods so has helped a little with the pain too, good luck and hope this has helped xx
Hi GabriJ
During the monthly cycle hormones stimulate the endometriosis, causing it to grow, then break down and bleed. Hormonal changes can be controlled via the use of hormonal contraceptives such as the pill. You could speak to your GP about going back on the pill whilst you wait. If the GP is unable to see you, you could try your local pharmacy.
Best wishes,
