Feeling worse on pill - would love some advice please!

Hi,

I’ve on my second month of Desogesterol (Cerazette) and my symptoms have been so much worse on it. I’ve been having a constant bleed, but it’s old blood that is shedding. And the shooting pains in my abdomen and pelvic area have been worse. My lower back and my legs are killing me too.

I’ve also been getting more aura migraines (I suffer from these anyway which is why I was put on the mini pill). And I’m just so, so exhausted.

Has anyone else had a similar experience or can offer any advice?

Thank you x

I was put on this by my gynae last year after not coping on the combined pill. First month was fine but when I started the second packet, I was literally bleeding everyday for 5 weeks! I was so low and sad throughout and ended up going to my GP to stop taking it because it was having a big impact on my day to day activities.

They prescribed a different one which again I’ve been having some bleeding on but it has been stopping luckily. They do say that it will make your pain irregular but for me, the bleeding just never stopped. Hoping that won’t be the case for you x

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

I’m sorry you had such a horrible time on it!

I’ve had a constant ‘old blood’ bleed for about 3 weeks now.

My dr didn’t mention anything about the pain, so that is good to know. Did you find you were in pain on it? x

I don’t remember being in too much pain. If I did it was more like period pain. I remember before I started bleeding, I had the worst back pain I’ve ever had for a whole week which then stopped once I started to bleed.

Hopefully it gets better. I really hope you have a better experience than I did. After week 3, I was already struggling with the constant bleeding. X

I was put on this last year when I had to gave my coil taken out to a fibroid pushing it out.

I had exactly the same symptoms and the pain was intense ☹️

I’d been on the coil for over a year and never had the pain and my heavy bleeding had got much better.

I’d have gone back to a coil if I could but I’m in limbo at the moment waiting on further test results to see what’s causing my heavy bleed issues... I’m bleeding for 4 weeks straight at the moment and understand How miserable it makes you.

I’d certainly ask your dr to put you on something else and maybe consider the coil... I’d been on contraceptive pill for many years before I started having issues so a coil i was a bit nervous about to start with but it did help me.

Hi, I was put in it after being really ill on the combine pill. However Desogesterol didn’t work for me and eventually ended up having to take cerazette with the 5mg norethisterone to actually stop the bleeding. My doctor only took this action after a four week long period. I still have old blood my doctor said it was my body reaction to being on and off different pills. Hope that helps, sorry you are going through this. Any questions just message me x

It’s horrible isn’t it :(

Did you get a lot of pain on it too? And did the bleeding stop right away when you came off it? x

I still suffer from the pain of it, I doing it made my pain a lot worse and I couldn’t control the pain which is something even now when I don’t take it I still suffer from! The bleeding kept up once I came off it and it was still old blood, I think the old blood make me a bit paranoid because it doesn’t seem right also sorry if this is too much but I’m always concerned people can smell it because it does seem horrific. I’m still trying to get used to being off it and my body is catching up x

Hi love I recently was on this pill and it was a nightmare for me and I was bleeding every day for two months and I went to see a private specialist and they advise me to stop taking it and I felt miles better stop taking itAnd now only use a natural approach to managing but I have had thought about going on the marina I don’t know if I definitely will but it is something for me to consider

in reply toAfrohair

Thank you for replying. The general consensus is that this isn’t a helpful pill.

Today I started a ‘proper’ bleed and I feel like my insides are just being torn up. I’m in so much pain, I’ve never known anything like it!

I know your pain I’m currently doubled over on the sofa with a hot water bottle. As bad as it is I’m still glad I stopped taking the pill as that made things worse. Try codeine and also a tens mashine helps sometime can get them cheap off amazon

I was given the pill to take consistently to stop periods totally until my next appointment (6 months Wait) and I had taken in for 3 months and consistently bled brown blood and it made my hormones go wild and effected my emotions naturally and was still getting pain. So I’ve last week chosen to stop taking it. And the results has been a horrific period this week but that is expected after stop taking but I’m already feeling better in the head. I don’t think every pill suites everyone so I would say stop taking it or go to doctors and get on a different one especially if you are still bleeding brown blood. If you are still bleeding like I was then it clearly isn’t doing the job it is suppose to be.

Thank you for replying, I was told to try it for 3 months.

Did you still get endo-related pain? Mine is awful.

You’re right, it’s not doing the correct job. I definitely do need to go back. I think it’s an awful pill.

The pill didnt work for me either. Have you tried the patches? Im looking into them x

in reply toPurplewitch18

No, this is the first thing they have tried for me. I’m hoping there’s a suitable alternative, I’ll have to ask about those x

They always stick you on the pill first and it doesnt agree with a lot of women, or do anything for the endo. Ask about the patches and see what they say xx
