Just got a call from g.p saying that they can’t put referral through went online to look for the bsge list and Saint Mary’s is now not even on there .she continued to tell me how much she’s tried and asked me about the previous gynaecologist I now feel stuck that she’s said the referral electronically won’t go through

Is it this one?

bsge.org.uk/centre/northwes...

St Mary's Central Manchester?

Afrohair in reply toluthien

Did a full list come up when you typed it in.there was only a few what showed up saint Mary’s Manchester wasn’t on their

I googled it "BSGE Saint Mary's", it didn't show any results hence no dot, but it does if you scroll down; the website searches for and shows the closest match:

Northwest Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Centre.

I've then just gone in via bsge.org.uk/centre/ and typed in "Manchester" in the location, the St Marys Hospital one is the first on the list but that's the address for the Hospital the actual Center is within the Hospital so the Northwest Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Centre. That's what you need to tell your GP.

You can just search for "Northwest" in the search bar on the bsge.org.uk/centre/ page, and it'll be the only one on there!

I hope she does but I just asked someone online and they said they aren’t taking patients anymore now and it’s a year and half wait I’m screwed don’t know what to do !that will be why there’s only Birmingham and Lancashire on that list I saw

luthien profile image
luthien in reply toAfrohair

They'll all be waiting now due the current stuff going on; all trained professionals are needed, so there will be a backlog once it all starts back up again in a few months - it isn't just endo centers it's all doctors, nurses everywhere so we'll just need to be patient

Your center is definately on the list, if you follow what I've said! Check it to see, if it's there then it's active!

Not sure why I can’t get it on my phone

luthien profile image
luthien in reply toAfrohair

some website stuff doesn't work on phones, it's not all modernised yet lol!

Afrohair profile image
Afrohair in reply toluthien

Yeah I understand there’s lots of backlog I’m not worried about the wait I’m worried she won’t refer me as she has said she’s tried and tried

luthien profile image
luthien in reply toAfrohair

maybe you need to actually tell her what to look for so basically what I've written. Does she have an email address? email instructions or explain over the phone or send a letter? Just thinking ...

Afrohair profile image
Afrohair in reply toluthien

I was trying to tell her on phone but she just kept saying I can’t do it which was annoying

luthien profile image
luthien in reply toAfrohair

tell her to google "Northwest Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Centre BSGE" it's the first one which comes up on the google search, and then click the link!

It seems like your GP doesn't know how to use google lol! perhaps she's busy, idk.

Then I said I might have email she said it Dosent matter she needs to do it electronically I said I can get some details as I’ve emailed before .basically do her job. For her!and then she said is this the number I said I think so you can call them.but she was trying to convince me to go back to the old gynaecologist asking me why I need a lap is it just fertility?and irrelevant questions like it was stupid or something

You have a right to see a different specialist. Usually I just hand in a note to reception to say "i'd like to be referred to xx at xx" and they do the rest. So have the full address for the center including the email address and contact details

Northwest Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Centre

St Mary\'s Hospital, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford Road

Manchester

Greater Manchester

United Kingdom

M13 9WL

I don't know why it has a \ in it but that could be why it doesn't search.

cmft.nhs.uk/ for contact details.

Put it all in a letter to your GP surgery addressed to your GP. That's it.

Then if they can't find it they really have issues!

Yeah, i randomly looked for BSGE centres the other night and my one (Liverpool womens hospital) wasnt there which i thought was odd, it was on the list last year. Ive been under them now for over five years, so i hope its still registered as one.

Afrohair profile image
Afrohair in reply tojull

Very odd indeed maybe they are updating their website.its just worried me because she said she tried and tried but the referral won’t go through so I was thinking are there less bsge services now ?because I know it gets updated every year !and someone just said Saint Mary’s aren’t taking on so it’s got me very anxious now that I won’t get my much needed referral as if I haven’t got enough on lol already waited a year for answers

Hi - as you know (we have spoken before) I had a real fight trying to get a referral to Manchester and to my preferred specialist (Edi-Osagie) I live out of the area (over an hour away) which was my first issue, then I had to argue to try and get that particular hospital and that particular specialist. I rang the referral service myself and asked to speak to someone senior (after previously speaking to someone and them failing to refer me correctly) I eventually got through to someone and explained my circumstances (was referred numerous times which took almost two years!) plus that I had seen him privately so he knows my case etc. Input across that I have endometriosis and need excision surgery by an expert due to the severity of my endometriosis. The person I spoke to at referrals was amazing and actually referred me. The initial story was that Saint Mary’s are not taking on any new patients and neither is my specialist. Which as proof of my eventual referral and operation shows was not the case at all. I imagine with everything that is going on at the moment things are a little hectic in the NHS. However please keep fighting for your specialist, he is one of the best. Keep ringing, emailing and batting down doors. I know it is hard but we are all here to support you. x

Thanks for your reply do you have the referral hotline number it’s such a fight I just wish I had the money to go private.maybe I could email him direct I’m just hoping she’s done it now x

hltz in reply toAfrohair

I had an e-referral so the number was on that letter. I will have a look for it tomorrow and send it to you if I find it. Just be insistent - don’t let them put you off. Good luck x

Afrohair profile image
Afrohair in reply tohltz

I’ve not had anything as it’s the g.p receptionist doing it but it’s not the first time I’ve been called for something they can’t do.they seem to be useless any time I want anything done x

hltz profile image
hltz

Also Edi-Osagie didn’t show up as a referral option the first time and I was referred to Trafford to someone else. I think maybe he doesn’t show up as an option due to high demand. You may have to be insistent regardless of the waiting list. The referrals try to minimise the wait.

Afrohair in reply tohltz

She kept saying I will wait long but I said I know I really don’t care I just want to be seen x
