Can your laparoscopy results be wrong

Had my first laparoscopy on Monday and was told nothing was found, but I have every single symptom of endometriosis, how is this possible? Anyone else get this result but still have endo? An endo specialist did my lap.

Hmm,

Did your endo specialist check all of the abdomen? as endo can present on the bladder and bowel - mine was right round the back of my bowel.

Did they do a hysteroscopy? Camera up vagina into uterus - this is used to check for any endo present in the vagina and any problems in the uterus such as fibroids

Can't think of anything else, what is the endo specialist suggesting as follow up investigation?

Not that I'm aware of. Nothing is being done to follow up. I've literally been told I don't have endometriosis (specifically all they said is nothing abnormal was found) and that was that. My discharge notes are blank because there wasn't anything to look at, and there's no scheduled follow up. The surgeon didn't even want to see me after I woke up.

wow :(

It may be something where you need to keep a page a month diary over the next few months of your ongoing symptoms, pain levels, location of pain, medication, periods including flow, mood etc and go back to your GP with it pushing for something to be done.

I know you can see someone at at BSGE center (google) but I think you need to have suspected endo so maybe do the above before contacting them - that way your GP can back you up. BSGE centers are more specialised, but I'm not sure how they can help if you've already seen an endo specialist. Perhaps give them a call?

Morning....could it be adenomyosis? Symptoms very similar to endo but very hard to diagnose- even with a lap. Xx

Hi, no advice but just wanted you to know I’m in the same position as you. Had a laparoscopy last week and was told nothing was found. It’s very disheartening. I’m going to do what has been suggested by members on here & keep a very detailed diary with every symptom and go back.

Good luck. x

I’m just wondering whether they checked for fibroids? A hysteroscopy would show them but not a laparoscopy. The symptoms can be very similar and equally debilitating xx
