Pain relief

Hi guys,

Hoping I can get an idea of some approaches that people have found work for them with regards to pain relief.

As we were trying for a child, I was just taking naproxen, paracetamol and tranexamic for pain relief whilst on my period.

However, my quality of life has deteriorated so much we have made the difficult decision not to proceed with IVF due to my daily pain and heavy bleeding.

The GP has recommend that I get the mirena coil. What are people's experiences with this? Also what pain relief do you take on a daily basis (if necessary).

Thanks as always guys :) xx

Boots are selling tens machines for 16 quid at the mo .I’ve had a few mirena s . It will help the lining of your womb and that’s good if you are going for a baby . The mirena can be painful but if you are a big bleeder ( sorry that sounds horrible) you will notice a big difference . It can be painful at first because your womb can try and get rid of it . The royal London have been so good with me. I went via the sexual health clinic and they have been so supportive. I was concerned that the mirena had moved but they checked it and reassured me. The two previous mirena I had no pain at all . This time I hadn’t had surgical intervention for along time so that’s probably why it’s been painful . It’s important not to accept heavy bleeding because it leaves your immune system depleted and pain is not normal either. You have to persevere with the mirena but it’s better for you than surgery after surgery . More research is showing its good for treating endo and for dampening down the symptoms . You can always ask for a progesterone injection whilst you are waiting for the mirena to work
