Mirena coil with microgynon pill at same time?

Is it okay to take the microgynon pill whilst being on the mirena coil if you keep having bleeds? I'm from the UK but am in Spain till April. The GP prescribed me the pill incase I continued to have bad Endo pains/bleeds despite being on the mirena. I started taking the pill last night and have been very poorly since and pharmacists in Spain are saying it's unheard of to take both at same time. I couldn't find anything online about taking both. Any help would be massively appreciated as I feel in a scary position

Hi Endowarrior27, I had the same problem going on the mirena coil I was still bleeding my gynae then put me on cerezette to stop the bleeding I was originally meant to be on it for 3 months and then wean my body off it as they were convinced the coil would settle , but to cut a long story short it didn't settle so I've been on cerezette for a year now i have good and bad days but I am on the waiting list for a lap and to get the coil removed. I'm sorry I couldn't be much help but I hope you can get some answers to why you are feeling unwell and that you start feeling better soon x

I have been told by an endometriosis specialist that I can take either a combined pill or a progesterone only pill on top of the mirena coil. She also told me to take the packets back-to-back with no break as it is a complete myth that you need to have break weeks! The idea is to basically suppress ovulation.

Perhaps Microgynon is just not the right pill for you? x

I’ve been told by a specialist to stay on the combined pill and have a IUD fitted to stop the bleeding as the surgery I had done last year did not work. I left the hospital feeling unsure about taking both forms of contraceptives together especially when it’s been advised not to let the nurse whose going to fit the IUD know that I’m already on a combined pill. The bleeding is still heavy so I decided to start taking some Tranexamic Acid 2 three time daily and it’s made things a lot better. Please let us know how you get on
