Hi new to this forum. I was just wondering what everyone else does to cope during your time of the month? As far as pain and mood swings? I have endometriosis so painful and I Hemorrhage so much that I’m off period in three days.

To help the pain - if I know when I’ll be on, i find it helps to plan social events (where possible) around it, and to do house jobs before hand too a like hoovering, changing the beds etc, also batch cook, so if I don’t feel like cooking I can pull something out of the freezer and it’s good to go! Welcome!

From around ovulation time till it starts I top up with vitamin B6 50mg (This is in addition to the multivitamin I take daily) as I find this helps stabilization of my mood swings, depression and weepy days. I'm going to try evening primrose oil as well because I get bad breast pain to.

I take anti inflammatory ibuprofen or naproxen several days before the pain kicks in as they work better this way. I also go to bed earlier as I get very tired. I have a nice aromatherapy oil mix including Clary sage which I rub over my abdomen before sleep as I find this relaxing.

I plan easy meals in advance that require minimum standing to cook so either baked on an oven tray or reheating from previous batch cooking. I try to include iron rich foods as I get heavy periods.

I switched to cloth pads a while ago and I must say they are more comfortable and much more absorbent than anything else which I'm so thankful for when I'm floodingly heavy!

I warn my friends that I usually see when it's period week so they know not to expect me to see them as usual. I do nothing but the bare minimum I need each day as for me it's about surviving the worst days.

I don't know if any of that helps but that's my current strategy.

Yes want to start incorporating B vitamins to help with mood in general thanks for the advice

I make a date with a big bubbly hot bath and listen to music or if I need to go out it ibuprofen and I take my hot water bottle it comes with me everywhere! Before I was put on zoladex injections I used tranexamic and mefenamic acid to ease the bleeding and eat loads of fruit!

I agree with pre warning friends too you usually find more understanding about not making events or leaving early

I had them on prescription in uk but you take them the first three days of your period personally for me it lightened bleeding just while I was awaiting my treatment for a laparoscopy etc
