I’m being referred back to the fertility clinic after husband has been smoke free 6 months! So proud!
So I have a 5cm endometroima on my left ovary, recently seen on a CT scan, it was 3cm last year, so has increased in size. I saw the gyne who wasn’t worried, she said nothing will be done by them until it’s 7cm. I wasn’t in pain so left it there.
Now I’m being allocated the first appointment back with my fert consultant who has already agreeddd to do surgery if I wanted to but this was back when they were small, so I decided to wait, we have issues with husbands sperm so next option is IVF I would like some advice or personal experiences. My dilemma is do I leave the endomtroima there (not in pain only first days of period) and go ahead with the IvF will the cyst being there cause the IvF to not work? Should I get it removed before I go ahead with ivf I’m so unsure.
Some people say get it removed and some people say having the surgery could make things worse.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Hope you all have a lovely day xxx

Hi ChloeL934 I have a similar issue. I am also in the process of going for IVF but scans have shown I have endometriomas. One is on my right ovary which I believe was 5cm. I have had endometriosis confirmed 10 years ago but as my egg reserve was low instead of operating and possibly reducing this further they said they would give me either 3 month injections or 6 months which basically puts my body into menopause for that time and actually shrinks the cysts. Since then I have had other tests etc so not had the injections yet. Have you had your egg reserve measured yet? Obviously not a doc but if that’s good then I don’t see why having this cyst would be an issue but you could mention about shrinking them to see what they say. Let me know how you go and good luck with the IVF. x
Will you still be going ahead with the IVF or do u need to get rid of the cysts first... as I’ve heard a few different stories, some people say it won’t affect IVF some people say to remove them. I’m not sure about the egg reserve I had bloods done at the fertility clinic and they didn’t have any issues? Not sure if this is something I should ask more about.
I am waiting on scan results which I am meant to be getting today as they found a mass on my left side so thats been holding the process back. I did go for an IVF app yesterday but it was pointless as they said they need the results from the scan first to determine what they should do. You right everyone is different and for me due to my egg levels they want to avoid operating. Before I seen the IVF consultant I had a bloods taken and ultrasound done and my husband was also tested then at the first app the results from that was discussed and thats when I found out about the levels and cysts. It might be that yours were normal so it wasn’t mentioned. I would definitely speak to your IVF consultant to see what they think is best. Keep me updated and good luck I have my fingers crossed for you x
