How long does it take lupron to get out of your system, will it keep messing with my period?

I got my first dose of lupron Nov. 14. I decided to stop it after that first dose because the side effects were not worth it to me. I did get a period Nov. 25th, it lasted 5 days like normal and it was heavier in the beginning and got lighter. I spotted for 4 days after (the day before Flo's estimated ovulation day) i then spotted a couple days later. That's gotta be from the lupron effecting me. My question is how long will the lupron stay in my systems since i only got one dose? Dec. 19 was supposed to be the day i started this period, could this still be the lupron?

Was it the 1 month dose or the 3 month dose? Assuming it was the one month dose, I would be surprised if things weren't back to normal by January. I was on it for a long time, 9 months, and it took 3 months for my periods to return from the date of my last dose.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you. The side effects do usually settle down after a couple of months but if they're unbearable, they're unbearable.

Edited to add: it is true that the longer you're on it, the more suppressed the ovaries become so the longer it takes to wear off.

It was just the one month dose. I just wasn't sure how long the lupron would still effect me after I stopped

Everyone is different of course! Also periods can be weird with or without endo so it can be hard to know what’s causing what. There shouldn’t be lupron itself left in your body more than a month after the dose, but the question is how your body has reacted to it, if you see what I mean.

Hello!

I'm from the States, but I had the 3 month dose and wish I had quit after the first injection. I had pretty intense side effects that were long lasting. My period also returned 3 months after I stopped Lupron, much like Wanwood's did. I also had a period the first month I was on it, but it was not the "norm". I will never really know if it helped my endometriosis, but I did go on to conceive a son 5 months after stopping the medication and my period had returned. Hope that helps. Drugs affect everyone so differently, although individuals can have similar side effects.
