Hello, I have been recently been told I have suspected Endometriosis after months of upset and pain, and years of heavy painful periods. I saw a gynaecologist who told me I have a retroverted uterus, but also had scans that didn't show anything else out of the ordinary. I am finding it confusing, as I feel everything I am reading about the condition downplays the pain to be a worsening of existing period pain. The truth for me is that I have started to experience excruciating pain around ovulation, this stabbing vaginal muscle spasm occurs in the middle of the month, usually at night. In addition to this I have an ache in my lower right side that gets better and worse throughout the month, never really going away but again is consistently at its worse while ovulating. When added to excruciating period pain there is no time when I am pain free! I due to the fact that the dull ache is occurring on the lower right of my abdomen, + moves occasionally moves to the middle (after a lot of reading about the condition), I have come to the conclusion that I might have adhesions around my appendix. When the pain started I almost admitted myself to A+E with an Appendicitis because it was so extreme.
I suppose I'm wondering why descriptions of the disease concentrate so much on linking the pain with periods and fail to describe the pain caused by the cells when they are at their thickest and possibly causing adhesions.
This is my first time on the forum and I joined to ask if anyone else experiences their worst pain over the space of a week around ovulation? I've noticed also that the severity of this pain varies month about, with the right side most excruciating.

Hi, I can relate - I don't experience my worst pain around ovulation (worst is still pre-period and period week) but for the last 6-9 months I've been having worsening pain each month when I ovulate and mine to is located all on my right side - From my kidney down to my appendix.
I have a dull ache constantly near my right hip/lower back and also a stabbing pain on my lower right hand side which is there all the time but changes in severity from Ovulation to Period. The symptoms all go away for about 4/5 days after the end of my period but then as soon as my body builds up to ovulate it all starts again..
I have had three laps in the past to remove endo but none by a BSGE specialist - I am going in for my 4th in January and it is suspected that it is endo around bowel, appendix, bladder potentially due to the kidney pain.
I'm afraid I can't help until its been confirmed but just wanted to say I experience the same pains too and its worth getting checked out and requesting to be seen by an endo specialist
Hi I feel your pain. Ovulation also agony for me then its onto period pain, then worse pain after period (which is that heavy I set alarms for during the night). Few days rest then off we go for ovulation again. Sometimes I think labour pain was easier. I'm just in the process of been diagnosed. I'm lucky my consultant is the best in the area. My right ovary is stuck to my uterus and my left to the bowel so he's fairly confident his endo have an MRI next week as also have severe leg pain so checking if it's on spinal cord and pelvis. I've been told its spinal, brain tumours MS then finally sent to gyno. It's a nightmare. Hopefully we'll both get some relief soon
My worse time is about 5 days before my period till a few days afterwards. I have lower levels of discomfort/ pain other days. Before my surgery last year the pain was everyday, ovulation was v painful. Periods were hell and going to the toilet caused pain. Like you mine was concentrated on my right side. I was actually misdiagnosed with appendicitis and admitted to hospital 5 mths before my surgery till a ct scan showed otherwise. I had deep endometriosis in my right utero sacral ligament. The pain radiates upwards and down into my right hip and leg. I feel like I've had this right sided ache for nearly 20 years now! I was even told by two rather ignorant general gynecologists that "people with endometriosis don't feel pain after their period begins only a bit before" and "you wouldn't be in this much pain if you had endometriosis". It's a mystery to me who writes the descriptions of endometriosis symptoms!
I hope you'll get a proper diagnosis and treatment soon!
