Just at home after having the operation, two surgeons, had to do pararectal surgery also. He said one in seven chance endo growing back with HRT that was my fourth operation, the secinf this year so I ain't taking that chance. Taking progesterone oil but nothing else. Its tough, pain, hormonal migraine hot flushes, Really full of bloating wind tired feel sick.
I have just had a total hysterectomy in... - Endometriosis UK
I have just had a total hysterectomy including ovaries removed, how do people cope when they csant take HRT. It was for stage four endo.
Hi
I had total hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy, endometrial excision on my bowel & pelvis over 3 years ago.
I had adenomyosis on examination of my removed womb.
It took me 6 months to recover from the physical impact of the operation.
I didn't have HRT as I didn't want to feed the growth of more endo. I also have a family history of breast cancer.
Surgical menopause is not a walk in the park and there have been times when I really considered caving on the HRT. However, this is what I have found:
All the textbook triggers for hot flushes are true.
Exercise, especially yoga are so helpful.
My GP talked my stigma away, about trying Fluoxetine to help me sleep, as my hot flushes we're occurring every half hour through the night. They have helped.
My flushes are easing. Every few months I have a spike of flushes, which is when my sleep is really affected. But these spikes are easing, progressively.
I was told that any remaining endo would die away. I believe it has.
It is very much a time of learning what works and doesn't, for you.
Good luck x
I am about to go on the menopause for the second time. First time I had to go on HRT as I was in a really bad way hot flushes and cold sweats every 10minutes wouldn’t stop all day everyday was so ill! So this time around I am very thankful for your advice. I will save it and look back on it if I have a bad time again. As I had no idea hrt feed your endo and helps it grow thank you. And to the other lady I hope your ok! Stay strong or as strong as you can xx
