Hi all;

Just need some advice, for the past week or so been having more pain than I normally get. Just on my left side, also down my left leg and a quick sharp stabbing pain in my vagina. It only lasts a few seconds but is quite painful..

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi - when you have endometriomas they often indicate deep endo elsewhere. The symptoms you describe are typical of rectovaginal endo which predominantly affects the left side. Pain is referred from the uterosacral ligaments to the sciatic nerve causing leg pain. There will usually be some bowel symptoms and pain with sex.

Hi. Omg you describe everything I go through. I have never been told any of this. I was even told by my consultant endo doesn't cause back or leg pain and I was making it up or need to be seen by a bone doctor. What I want to know is why did she not tell me these things. You are full of knowledge. How did you find out these things. I was diagnosed 17 years ago. I can't thank you enough as I thought I was going mad. Hope you are well at the moment. Thank you.

Like so many I was 'imagining all sorts of dire conditions' apparently and quite mad into the bargain. My medical records still say so! I was undiagnosed 25 years and had to research to get myself help. That turned onto something of a passion and I have been trying to help others ever since to make some use of all the suffering. Yes, I have been pain free for 10 years now and know how fortunate I am...

Thank you I am now researching what you have said. It's so interesting. I am going to take this new information to my GP see what they think. Thank you so much. I am so pleased you are pain free.

Hi,

I agree with Lindle. I have rectovaginal endometriosis and I mainly have pain on my left side with this exact symptom as you. Now on a daily basis.

Just to back up the answers you've already had. Yes! But mine is right sided as I have endometriosis on my right uterosacral ligament. Pain runs into my leg and I get sharp stabs of pain like you. These will sometimes feel like they go through my rectum, sometimes through my vagina (body likes to mix it up a bit). It can take you unawares....not a lot of fun I'm afraid.

I'm there with you on this specific pain. Daily. Left side as well. I just recently started back with my pelvic floor physical therapist, and will be going again tomorrow. She has been so helpful. I try to avoid taking pain meds to remedy whenever possible. Stay strong!
