Non-hormonal IUD (copper coil) and endo

Hi I'm new here. I've been looking for specific info and thought maybe someone here would know. For background, I'm 40 years old, was diagnosed with endo last winter and had a laparoscopy in the summer. I had a copper, non-hormonal IUD as birth control for a few years, till it moved out of place (which led to my diagnosis eventually. I had no idea that painful periods were not "normal"). They tried me on the mini-pill (because I'm 40 I'm too old for the normal pill), then with a Mirena coil. Both caused my mood to drop dangerously, and I was bleeding constantly. So I got them to remove the Mirena at the same time as the laparoscopy, and all has been well since then.

But I need birth control. Condoms are OK for the moment, but they're expensive and a little inconvenient. I'm in a longterm monogamous relationship, so there's no issue with STDs.

I want to go back to the non-hormal IUD. The surgeon refused to put one in when I got the laparoscopy done, because he says it makes periods heavier, which yeah it does. My question is though, does it make the actual endometrial tissue grow back faster? Does it actually affect endometriosis in any other way than having heavier periods? (Since the lap, they've been so much lighter and painfree anyway) He didn't answer those questions, and I can't find anything on the internet about it. All my docs seem to want to hardsell the Mirena, but I am not about to risk my mental health like that again. The copper coil was so much better till it moved :(

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give x
