Would appreciate any ladies sharing their experiences with Zoladex and Tibolone. Just started my 6month plan with this, I appreciate everyone is different and symptoms can really vary. Any info is useful.

Thanks

Hi, I was on Zoladex for eight months to try and shrink my cysts before IVF. I did suffer quite a bit, it feels like you're trapped in the second day of your period, which is when I get a migraine. So it was migraines that got me, honest by month four all my symptoms were gone, no more migraines, I felt incredible, I actually cried when ai realised I would have to endure periods again. So honest great stuff and it did managed to reduce the size of my cysts. I wish you all the luck in the world with it. They didn't let me have tibilone till seven months in which did take the edge off when I first had the injection. I remember when I first saw the zoladex needle I was like, that is the biggest needle I've ever seen xx

Hi Harriet

Thank you for your info and glad to hear you had some positives with it. Wow to eight months, I’m due to having a 6month stint until my next surgery (laparoscopy) although I’m keen to have sooner if I can. Yes I am also a migraine sufferer so this is one of their concerns but it will outweigh the benefits of calming my endo down pre op. Was there any pain relief you’d suggest to ease migraines?

I’m experiencing two days sickness and nausea so hoping it’s just settling in.

All the best x

P.s agreed that was epically large needle... thank goodness for local anaesthetic!

I take Sumatriptan for my migraines, they take the pain but not the nausea and visual disturbance.

Lucky you I had to have my injection monthly and with no anesthetic 😔

I hope it all settles down and it works well for you too xx

That’s a rather harsh nurse! Good to know with migraine meds. Fingers crossed so far I managed to pick up a chest infection this week- honestly!

Dear Skolive

I was on the same medication prior to my hysterectomy. Tolerated both well. My specialist changed me from tibolone to Oestrogel as I was very emotional. Oestrogel definitely seems to suit me better.

All the best

Hi Claire

Thank you for sharing, glad it didn’t effect you too much and they were able to make a swap when needed. Also for the heads up with emotions changing- I can’t hide my emotions as it is so any changes will be definitely obvious to all!

Take care x

Hallo, I’ve been on Zoladex for the last 6 years! I managed to convince my BSGE specialist that this is the best treatment for me. I haven’t had a period or any other side effects (apart from the occasional hot flush) and I need to have regular dexa scans and monitoring of my ovarian cysts, but that’s it!

I also insist on local anaesthetic as I get very tender around the injection area for a few days otherwise.

Hi - wow 6 years! That’s great to hear how well it works for you. I’m hoping it’s only a short stint until my next surgery.

I am have been on zoladex and tibilone for 4 months now it’s definitely reduced the pain. I have hot flushes at night mainly and my emotions jump all over the place. But was worth it for the reduction in pain. I am have to stop it now though due to high blood pressure.

All the best

Hi thanks for your message. That’s great it relieved the pain symptoms the other symptoms aren’t ideal but a lesser evil!

Hopefully they can find a suitable alternative for you!

Hi everyone

I have had my last 3 month zolerdex in March, and had my laparcopic surgery for endo in March as well.

Now its October and have been waiting for my period to come, is this normal?

Its been 7 months now.

My last check up in july , my doctor said my period will come soon and the zolerdex has worked well.

Should i be concerned that my period have not returned yet?

I also hoping it returns soon due to wanting to start a family.

Please advice

Much appreciated

It can take a while to return. I had monthly injections for 1 year and mine took 3 months to return but when I was searching in here and google for how long it would take some people were reporting 9/12 months. It’s frustrating when you are wanting to try for a family but try not to focus on it x

Hi bluetit

Thanks alot

I dont mind the wait to start a family

Just the hot flushes is unbearable sometimes, especially in summer .

I also notice that with some people their periods took 6 months or even quicker, thats why i was concerned as to why mine have not returned yet,

Cant want for the zolerdex to wear off.

I took the injection in March , its 7 months now , do u think its normal?

Zoladex has been brilliant for me, right until a different gynae insisted I take tibolone too. Cue back to bleeding and cramps etc, which, given that's the reason I was put on zoladex, it's extremely frustrating.
