Hi all just seen the gynaecologist and as you all know it’s hard to diagnose. Just wondering people’s thoughts on the laparoscopy? I’ve already had the marina coil for 8/9 years but only symptomatic in last year so wanted to see who is for or against it? I’m only 28 and having children is important (also my sex life)
Any thoughts, stories or advice will be appreciated

Hi, I've been in a similar situation. I've been on the pill for 10 years to control self-diagnosed endometriosis symptoms, but went to the drs when I became symptomatic again a few years ago. I decided to go for the laparoscopy, mainly because it's the only way to get a formal diagnosis and I thought if I didn't that would kind of be the end of the road. Also, I thought if my endo symptoms had been controlled for 6/7 years and then came back, it probably means it's got worse and so should be looked at.
I had my diagnostic lap a few weeks ago and I'm happy with my choice. Even though they couldn't do any treatment at the time (it was on my bowel and bladder so needs a team of specialist surgeons), it's a relief knowing there is a reason for the way I'm feeling and that there are treatment options. I'm just waiting for an appointment at a specialist clinic now, but I will go for surgery again if it's offered.
I had my lap 12 years after my symptoms first started, unfortunately when I first went to the Dr's I was brushed off and basically told nothing they could do but give me the pill.
I highly recommend it. It's the only way to get a confirmed diagnosis, which can help in a number of ways before I was diagnosed trying to get strong painkillers was a battle, but now they understand why I need them. My pain before my lap was daily for 6months or so and after the lap it's just on my period, they are still just as painful but as I'm no longer in pain everyday it was totally worth it for me. And has meant I have been able to explain to my employer why I have time off each month and that it's an actual condition that's causing it.
As fertility is of importance to you, you might be able to ask them to do some tests to check if it's been effectes or not.
