Alcohol definitely flares up my endo, I’ve found that if I just drink in moderation and drink slowly it isn’t as bad but if I have had say maybe 5 drinks I will suffer the next day

Alcohol triggers flare ups for me. I figured it’s probably because it’s a huge inflammatory. I can have one or two max on occasion and that’s it. I haven’t had more than that for 2 years now and to be honest I don’t miss it xx

It’s hard though sometimes when you do want to enjoy yourself and have a few more but I really suffer. I find red wine is the worst for me x

I presume it’s because your liver is working hard to filter out the alcohol and while it’s doing that it can’t do it’s usual job of regulating hormones. I don’t know the answer because I’ve always liked a drink but I guess that’s the reason!

So sad to read this. Anyone with endo who would like a drink should be able to enjoy it without suffering after. Even non alcoholic cocktails because of the high sugar content can aggravate my belly which now I know is an endo flare up and I have to choose an outfit I won’t pop out of! Alcohol plus food is worse! I have taken liver cleansing tablets from Holland and Barrett after having a drink but I am not sure If it worked. Alcohol is a tough one I think the point is not to deny yourself having a life and try to enjoy anything that is a “treat” in moderation and prepare for any suffering after, like the day after have more water. I limit my alcohol in take but if I want it I will have it but now I am on zoladex i find that zoladex doesn’t like alcohol I get blinding headaches. Be Happy Ladies and if that means enjoying a piece of cake don’t deny yourself that joy, be kind to yourself always xxx

I am due to start zoladex and not looking forward to it’s what side effects do you have ?

Hot flushes is the main one. Otherwise some spots. This is my second round of zoladex and it’s brilliant for me because I have adenomyosis and fibroids as well as some endo so the benefits of less pain and having to take less pain killers out way the side effects. Drinking lots of water is important. X

Alcohol is probably the worst possible thing you can take with endo, apart from smoke.

Do yourself a favour and do not touch any alcohol nor drinks with colourings and preservatives for the rest of your life. It's the best option.

Water, water-based kefir, alcohol-free homemade beet kvass, coconut milk, matcha green tea (for some) and herbal teas are the only endo-approved drinks!

Hiya,

I actually stopped drinking a while ago because I found that the alcohol made the endometriosis much worse. And now I am on the zoladex implant I can't drink at all anyway.

Sometimes I do feel like I am missing out, and my boyfriend finds it frustrating because he says he doesn't like to drink alone.

However, I have found that having things like just tonic water instead of a gin and tonic is good. But then again, I didn't drink much in the first place.

Prosecco is the only thing that didn't really trigger a flare up. And only if I had one or two glasses.

Sorry!

Actually, I could handle Guinness before I was on Zoladex. That didn't really affect me...maybe because of the iron?
