Hi all, I had a sigmoidoscopy on Thursday which confirmed I will need a bowel resection. The test itself wasn’t that uncomfortable though he took a few biopsies, ever since I’ve been getting the most intense sharp pain near my left hip which only codeine will touch. Has anyone had any bad symptoms after this examination? It’s actually debilitating when it’s happening and there’s no pattern to it.

I had the same, although for me the procedure was very painful as they were trying to do a full colonoscopy. I think the pain after is probably caused by endometrial growths that have been disturbed, rather like when the stuff inside your womb sheds during your period. If it goes on for more than a few days, or if you start getting other symptoms, or the pain spreads, then you need to seek professional advice.
