I had rectovaginal and rectum endo. Had excision surgery just over a year ago. Iv been waiting for a hysterectomy and possibly bowel resection for 8 months ( complication from surgery in March , ended up in icu). Does anyone have endo hear and experience sharp shooting pain? And painful diarrhoea when flairing?

Do you ever get itching as if you have piles but don’t? X

Ohh sorry no itching. I have loads of lower back pain into pelvis, agony on passing wind, bloated tummy, sharp stabbing pains upwards from anus area and difficulty in going.

I get the shooting pains. There are times I can’t go for a bowel movement because the pain is so intense. It’s like a stabbing pain, which lasts even after the bowel movement. I’m due for my second laparoscopy.

Oh yes, the joy of feeling like there’s a knife going up your bum 😭

I’ve also started bleeding from the anus 2/3 days before my period which I’ve noticed other people mention on here 👍🏻

Just curious, is your bowel endo on the pouch of douglas? Mine is and I’ve seen lots of other people with the same symptoms also say they have it in the same place.

Hi Ladies, I had my lap in May and have stage 4. My dr told me to eat prunes every day. It has helped sooo much. I now eat "healthier" but dont cut out my favourite foods. Everything in moderation. After my breakfast I have 4 dried prunes. Hated it at first but you get used to it and it has stoped the shooting pains and blood from bowel movements.

Give it a try, would be interesting to know if it helps any one else x

Hi, I experienced this years ago and was diagnosed with proctalgia fugax, look it up. It eventually went away on its own but after a considerably long time. I was only diagnosed with endometriosis three weeks ago after my first lap and the surgeon told me I had it in my pouch of Douglas and there was scar tissue holding my rectum upwards which has made me wonder if years ago when I had that pain if it was endo there🤔

Considering you have been waiting for a bowel resection, getting diarrhoea is expected. Where is the sharp pain located?

Can I also ask where you had excision surgery performed? Why did you end up in the ICU? I hope the hysterectomy and bowel resection will be performed by a great specialist.

In the meantime, I can suggest looking into dietary and lifestyle changes (sleeping well at least 9 hours per night, doing some light swimming, yoga or walking everyday, making sure your vitamin D levels are in check, eating plenty of fish and vegetables -cooked or raw depending on what you tolerate best. Free-range eggs, nuts, fruit are good too).

The best source of information is healendo.com

Hi, it’s a possibility I will have bowel resection as the last op showed the endo pretty bad in that area and my surgeon spent 4 hours exercising it, on that op my uterus was observed to be very bulky and disfigured. Hence the reason I was going to have a hysterectomy literally 5 months after that op. Iv had many operations for different life limiting conditions in the past, however in March I was put under anaesthetic and my blood pressure dropped so badly i baracarrdic. Took them several hours and several shots of adrenaline to stabilise me enough to move me to icu. Iv since been back to have skin testing and found I’m now allergic to 3 types of medication I was given on the day. X

There are endo excision surgeons who have specialised or are better at excising endo from the bowel or doing bowel resection so I would look into that.

A bulky uterus can be a sign of fibroids or adenomyosis so a hysterectomy will help with both of those. I am also sorry to hear about your allergies.

To me, it sounds like your bowel is extremely upset and your microbiome must be also.

You definitely need to get bowel resection and then working on restoring the flora through clean eating, sleep, movements, supplements and whatever else you might need.

I wish you the best in your future endeavours!
