Hiya, I had my 1st Lap around 2 & 1/2 weeks ago, wounds seem to of healed well and stitches were removed 7 days after. The area under my belly button is really tender and sore, it’s not red but quite sore, is this normal? I am also suffering with pains in my ribs still and cannot for the life of me sleep, I just keep having cat naps 😭 not sure if this is normal or not so would really appreciate your help :) Thank you xx

Heya love,

I had my first lap about a year ago now, I remember the discomfort in my ribs, it took quite a few weeks for that to fade. I think it’s from the gasses they fill you with for the surgery. A lot of the post op pain seems to depend on how extensive the surgery was, how much they removed and from where. The other thing that affects the pain and recovery in my personal opinion is where in your cycle you are, I felt less sore after a couple of weeks, but then felt really tender again shortly after, around the time when I was due to ovulate.

I’m not sure what the department is like where you had your surgery, but I was given the ward number and could call for advice if I needed it, if you have that option it might be worth calling, at least to put your mind at rest.

I really hope you feel better soon, it’s so hard to carry on with your recovery when the pain keeps persisting and dragging you down.

Best wishes

B x

Hey, sorry to hear your in pain 😞 Yes it is normal, i had my lap in March and around my belly button it still feels tender and like it’s bruised (even though it’s not) it will take time but hopefully you won’t suffer for too long! Hope your pain improves soon and you can get back to normal with a well needed good nights sleep! X

Hey, this is quite normal, my stomach was sore for a few weeks so applying an ice pack wrapped in a towel really helped the swelling and pain.

As long as your bellybutton hasn’t got any pus, smells bad or other signs of an infection, it will be fine.

The pains in the ribs is just the gas pains from when they expand your stomach in stomach. It’s a bitch haha but a hot water bottle and slowly moving around can help to shift it. xxx
