Single Oophorectomy in February, no follow up

I had my right ovary and tube removed in February and the doctor came to see me as I was coming out of the anesthetic, said everything went well and lookedgood. That was the last I heard from the doctor, no follow up appointment, not even a phone call. I had the procedure because I had been suffering unbearable ovulation pain as well as constant moderate pain all the time on my right side. The doctor figured I had a car tissue from 2 ectopic pregnancies when I was younger. Since the procedure I've had mild pain on my right and the agonizing pain at ovulation time has gone so that's a plus. My concern is it still feels like there is something in my side just an irritation daily however it gets more painful during my period. I hate being a pain and calling the doctor after he told me everything looked good but I've read so many posts about misdiagnosis of ibs (diagnosed at age 16). Is it possible the didn't endometriosis? I've also been experiencing extreme hot flashes and sweats the last 4 days, early menopause? I'm only 39! Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Poor pet,

You need to ask to be referred to the HRT clinic. It sounds like your other ovary may have went into shock ie its temporarily shut off

As the other one (its sister) has been taken away. Apparently it can happen to both ovaries too if per sée the womb was taken out

Our bodies all react differently to major surgeries.

You sound like you have went into surgical menopause and you could well need the hrt appointment to speak to these specialists (not a GP's field usually)

To get a prescription for some combined HRT in the mean time untill such times come you maybe feel you don't need it. The estrogel gel is much cleaner and easier tham patches if you request the estrogen gel and youl probably need a wee progesterone tablet part of the month too, to help with shedding your endometrium (periods) as it seems from your post you definitely kept your womb!

When he talked of old scar tissue

Its possible that he was refering to lesions of endometriosis

Around your ovary?

Maybe you could phone the hospital like I have recently, ask for your surgeons notes post Operation and Pathology results if there were some.

These would give you a clear idea as to what happened during surgery and afterwards when they looked at the histology of your ovary/tube etc.

Please take what I say with regards to advice but im not medically trained I can only offer my similar experiences, you really need that referral to hrt asap re your menopausal symptoms.

Good luck.

Helly.
