I'm waiting to see a specialist to get my chronic pelvic pain investigated and hopefully treated and I need pain management recommendations that actually work in the mean time! I'm suffering from constant pelvic pain, nausea, dizziness and bladder urgency from the pelvic cramping and on some days diarrhea. The only thing that has been easing the pain a bit is a heat pack. My doctor prescribed me panadeine forte while i wit but that doesn't really help. I need to eat something but the nausea from the pain is making it hard and then my stomach has become sensitive to food as well.
Does anyone have any pain management/at h... - Endometriosis UK
Does anyone have any pain management/at home treatment recommendations for chronic pelvic pain that actually work??
I go through exactly the same thing . Rest and hot water bottle helps . I've been on all sorts of pain relief, tramadol doesn't even work now . I've gone back to plain old ibuprofen! I find stress makes my symptoms worse but it's hard to avoid these days.
I've heard about 'castor oil packs ' what's that all about ?
Yes the heat pack is the only thing that gives me some relief but I can't exactly carry it around with me all the time unfortunately. But I at the stage where my pain and symptoms are so bad that it hurts to walk and I have can't leave the house because I'm curled up on my bed most of the time in pain clutching a heat pack. And when I do need to leave for a doctors appointment or to the shops I struggle big time. I am now taking my heat pack to the doctors with me in hopes they will take me more seriously. But that doesn't help my nausea and bladder urgency either. If i can reduce my pelvic pain the other symptoms will hopefully lessen a bit.
Yes stress makes my symptoms worse for me too. It's horrible because I am stressing because I'm trying to be strong and prevent myself from vomiting and/or fainting from the pain as well as trying to find and get to a toilet in time too. It's an endless cycle.
I have never heard of castor oil packs for pain. My only issue is I'm very sensitive to side effects. I tried magnesium for a bit but got a bad stomach after a few weeks and anti inflammatory medication gives me bad stomach too. But now that I think about it, I've been having a bad stomach on and off for awhile now so some things do make it worse but I am for some weird reason my stomach is very sensitive to food at the moment.
Let me know if you have found anything that helps for the pain. Crossing fingers!
Hi,
Sorry to hear your having a rough time.
Try peppermint tea and avoid gluten and dairy, it helped for me 😘
Thank you for the recommendations.
I have been avoiding dairy, I think I am lactose intolerant anyways so I had to stop. Although I do eat lactose free yoghurt now and then since it's one of the foods that I can tolerate at the moment. I haven't been able to eat much because the nausea and sensitive stomach has given me no appetite but I have to remind myself to eat a bland diet of food as much as I can. I've had to stay away from a lot of food that makes me bloated (which seems to be nearly everything these days) because it puts pressure on my pelvic area and makes the pain worse.
I was actually searching online for any teas that might help. But I also need to consider things that would make my bladder urgency worse. It's getting ridiculous. I'm so exhausted.
You can try cbd oil the one from hempworx..it is a better alternative for nausea and pain management..organic supplement and it really works..I got it from their site
Sorry to hear you're suffering so much with this.
I would definitely recommend looking at your diet, I am really strict with gluten intake, and really careful with dairy (though i love cheese so it's difficult as dairy free cheese isn't great, good job lactose free is good), I'd suggest maybe trying coconut or almond based yogurt, or another non-dairy one, there's some really great dairy free stuff around now which may help you if you struggle with that side of things. I also stick to decaff coffee (though only one cup a day, if that) and redbush tea which is naturally caffeine free, I also have peppermint tea and a few other herbal/fruit teas. Hot water with a slice of lemon is quite nice too if you need to settle your stomach. I also don't have much red meat or alcohol and try to keep an eye on how much refined sugar I'm having. It's very much trial and error though, what works for me may not work for you.
Magnesium is worth trying as well. It won't necessarily help pain, but it is good for helping relax muscles, and may help you sleep as well.
Hope some of that helps.
Xxxx
Thanks for the recommendations.
I have been doing some elimination of foods but I'm getting to the point where whatever is happening inside me is causing sensitivity to nearly all food. So frustrating because I need to eat. So I am on bare minimum diet atm. I had baked potatoes and beans for dinner the last 2 night's. But then I also had a muesli bar the other day when I was already in pain and then it caused bowel issues and the day after I had a muesli bar again with less pelvic pain and my stomach was ok. So weird!
I found a chamomile, honey and vanila tea in my pantry and I was wondering if that might help with relaxing muscles, pelvic pain and stomach but I'm concerned it might increase my bladder urgency and pain?
I follow the primal blueprint and that really helps, I had tried elimination diets but I don't eat gluten anyway and felt like I was cutting everything out, like it was taking over my life! I thought back to when I last felt healthy and it was when I was eating primally so I went back to it and noticed a huge improvement. I think it's mostly down to eating organic meat, healthy fats and around 9 portions of fruit and veg a day. I also use CBD balm and oil but a quick Google tells me that Australian laws on it seem a bit complicated, though I think you might be able to request it from your doctor. For nausea, ginger helps a lot, I have a ginger and turmeric tea by Pukka teas that really helps and is delicious, so if you can find something similar that might help.
I also suggest buying stick on heat pads, they work wonders when you have no choice but to be out and about during the day!
Hi, it may seem stupid but, yesterday, after a full 24 hours of bad tummy pain (I couldn't stand up the evening before, when I came back from work, I felt drained, I had a long hot bath, and straight afterwards I used Ibulieve gel on my tummy to relax my tummy as much as possible, had a light dinner, washed up, and bed with a hot water bottle and paracetamol and 1 herbal sleeping tablet. I slept well, my tummy felt a bit sore today from the past pain but I went to work today and felt ok. I am very new to endo diagnosis, although Ive had pains for years, i have not received any medical help since diagnosis with pains, etc, so Im coping solo... i do find that Ibulieve gel helps a bit, alongside with hot water bottle, its just a matter of trying and seeing what works and what doesn't... Good luck!
Have you tried “Be You” patches? If you google you can get them online. They definitely take my pain down by a few notches when I need to be out and about. I heard about them on Jessica Duffin’s “This Endo Life” podcast. They’re also good for this time of year when it’s sometimes a bit hot for hot water bottles. I’m really sorry to hear of your struggles and I hope you find some relief soon.
I’m following for all the tips, I’m in a flare up and trying to cope with more holistic way than hormones and painkillers. Best of luck to you all struggling
