Just wondering if you were given any info about your operation ie expected stay in hospital, prep etc before your op. I had a pre op but they or myself didn’t know what the op was. Since found out I’m having a large cyst removed which is attached to bowel by key hole. I’ve met a nurse in the hospital entrance for a prescription of bowel prep and got told to collect it from the hospital pharmacy. The consultant told me to you tube the op if I wanted to know more I had already done this prior to seeing him after seeing the oncologist who told me it was endometriosis. Just feel like I’m going in unprepared. It doesn’t help as each establishment does it differently when I try to research it. Don’t worry pals will be informed after the op as I feel I will have more to say.

I had a pre op recently for a recent lap surgery and was not told much. The pre op nurse kept on about the consent form though making me worried. Cant belive your consultant told you to you tube the proccedure, thats not very professional. I find pre op more about whether you are fit for the Operation.
I didn't get much info, just given a few pamphlets as the nurse who does the pre op admission doesn't necessarily work for the gynae. I was given a lot more info the morning of the surgery but I think a lot of the time they don't know what they need to do until they're in there! I was told there was potential for open surgery which would mean an overnight stay, but key hole they try to get you home the same day.
