I am currently undiagnosed pending surgery this summer. I have most all of the endo symptoms. Absolutely debilitating periods and nearly constant pain. I can feel my right ovary at all times. Today I went in for a transvaginal ultrasound where they found nothing. No cysts, no endometrioma, nothing to explain away any of my pain. I fully realize that endometriosis does not typically show up on an ultrasound, but I really thought something would show up and explain my extreme pain. I’m now terrified that they’re not going to find anything when I go in for surgery.
I realize I’m being a bit irrational, I haven’t even had the procedure yet. But you can only be told so many times by doctors that they don’t know what’s wrong with you. It’s quite discouraging.
Anyways, I guess I’m hoping someone out there can relate to this. Maybe had normal ultrasound readings but had your pain finally validated once you’ve had an operation?

I can totally relate. When my issues started truly coming to a head (extreme period/ovulation pain, dizziness, bathroom issues) I had a pelvic ultrasound which showed no abnormalities. I then had my laparoscopic surgery which showed stage 1 endometriosis and adenomyosis. It was a couple of years ago this all happened, but if I remember correctly, my gynaecologist told me that it's common for endometriosis, particularly earlier stages, not to show up on an ultrasound, unless there are cysts or major legions.
It can be so frustrating when the things you're going through get dismissed or missed by doctors. It's totally understandable and not irrational at all and surgery is a pretty scary thing, especially when the outcome is so uncertain. I even started doubting myself and honestly wondered if it was all just in my head after having countless doctors not finding anything abnormal until I finally got an answer.
Hey, I was the same as you, I had so many tests that came back clear but endo and cysts showed up in my laparoscopy xxx
Hi, we are in the same boat. Had MRI but the results were clear although during the transvaginal ultrasound they saw some kind of lump behind my uterus.
Now I'm waiting for my diagnostic laparoscopy and hoping they will find a reason for my pain.
Reading others' experiences and their feedbacks and support gives me the feeling that I am not the only one and not just imagining things.
