I’ve had pelvic pain and lower back pain for 3 months.
I had a CT which showed fluid around my left ovary but nothing else. I had a pelvic ultrasound - not internal - which showed my ovaries to look normal.
I’m just got done CA 125 results back which are slightly high - im obviously worried.
I’ve decided to go priviate for a lapascopy so should have it done in less than a week.
Could it just be endometriosis?

Don’t worry. The ca 125 is not a reliable test for cancer at all. It can be high due to a number of reasons like endometriosis and even the day of your cycle. And 48 is not even that high a value. I have endometriosis and mine was 90 at the last test if I remember right. What my doctor told me was that it would be in the high hundreds or even thousands if it is cancer. I hope that puts your mind at ease.
Since you are having your laparoscopy in less than a week, they should be able to tell you if it is endometriosis or not, it is not possible to diagnose endometriosis based on symptoms alone or the ca 125 test. But you really don’t have to sit and worry about cancer just based on the fact that your ca 125 is slightly high.
I wouldn’t worry like this, honestly. I would just stay away from google and wait for the lap. Google is the worst thing when it comes to health related queries. Everything is a symptom match for cancer, everything can cause cancer. First of all, back pain, pelvic pain etc can have so many causes, most of them relatively harmless. Secondly, from what I see you have been having the symptoms for quite some time and you are still relatively ok which is quite reassuring because cancer isn’t that kind to people. Thirdly, your gyno knows much more than you and me so if she isn’t worried, then most likely it is because there is nothing to worry about. We certainly don’t know more than them based on our google reading. Despite what they say or do in normal circumstances, doctors are trained to recognize serious conditions and most wouldn’t take a chance if they saw something alarming. Don’t worry so, you will make your pain worse and get stuck in a vicious cycle. Good luck for the lap.
Just freaking out haven’t been able to stop weeing for 3 days
My CT was clear in July apart from done fluid around my left ovary then a external pelvic ultrasound showed nothing and my ovaries looked clear. Just freaking out about the worst case senerio due to the symptoms
Don’t worry girl, even non stop peeing can have many causes like high blood sugar and minor bladder infections. You are doing everything you can to get to the bottom of things, which is all any of us can do. Keep faith, stay away from google and have your lap. Good luck.
Hi. I found it very frightening having high ca125, mine was 2246, couldn't fault the hospital they told us it was alarmingly high and it was likely something was lurking, I had ct, MRI scans and various tests and it was down to the grade4 endometriosis and full frozen pelvis ( news to us as I haven't suffered like many do). It is very scary and I struggled but with a lap on the horizon try not to get to stressed ( easier said than done I know). Do you have support around you? Take care xx
Mines only 47 the gyno said it wasn’t concerning but obviously I am worried.
I took the test a day after finishing my period which might effect it
My CT in July showed nothing apart from fluid around my left ovary. My external ultrasound showed my ovaries to look clear. Normal bloods fine. Waiting on a priviate lapascopy
I know.. just don’t feel right sick of pelvic pain and now I have. Weird fluid feeling down below. It’s awful to feel this way I keep going to A&E out of desperation which I know isn’t right but I get so worried
Old post but since that I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis I then went on to have zolodex injections for 6 months then last April I had the endo removed and since then a lot of improvement
