At my follow up meeting at my gp he advised the cyst has been removed and that is it away. He said I was probably born with the tissue that has grown over the years to cause a cyst but now its been removed via laparoscopic surgery I should now be cured?!
I asked how they will know if it's going to grow back and he said that would be unlikely and would be monitored dependant on the pain I am feeling....
I assumed you have to live with the condition forever so this seems like great news but I'm not sure if he is correct....?
I have had my mirena coil removed and waiting my first period in 15 years so cant comment on pain yet and I've been fortunate compared to some others as my symptoms were very mild pre surgery.
Has anyone else been advised they are now cured after surgery. I'm. It seeing the consultant for a follow up till 3months post OP.

Absolutely not! I was told after my first laparoscopy that it wouldn’t return and I’m cured. Two years on, I have just had my second laparoscopy to remove more Endo and a cyst.
The surgeon for my second laparoscopy said Endometriosis will come back because it’s not curable but it may not be for many years and my symptoms may vary from previous experiences.
It’s not curable but you may be lucky and not need another surgery if your painful symptoms don’t return xx
I’ve just had my 6th lap in 9 years so not curable sorry. But there are things you can do to try and slow it down as much as possible by balancing your hormones and cutting out oestrogen-building foods that feed the disease. I won’t go on about diet as I know not everyone is interested but if you wanted to know more I’m happy to talk xx
Hi! I'd like to know a bit about diets to keep my endo happy. I had my first lap on Wednesday and want to do as much as I can to keep it from coming back to bite me on the bum. I've looked online for different diets but some are so confusing and some contradict others so I'm not sure what to trust x
Ahh okay no problem! So I really recommend the book ‘Recipes and Diet Advice for Endometriosis’ by Carolyn Levett (ISBN: 9780955678523). I’ve got the first and second edition and I recommend the second more which I bought from Amazon.
The author also has a website called ‘endo resolved’ which is really helpful.
The book is really good as it goes through what has been eliminated in the diet and why and the science behind it but it’s not written in an intimidating way. The diet is designed to reduce pain and inflammation, reduce any intestinal problems and much more. There are loads of helpful recipes in the book and tips for how to get started which is great as it can be a little scary at first.
The diet is:
Wheat and nearly all gluten free
Lactose/ dairy free
Meat free
Sugar free
Soy free
Additive free
Caffeine free
Alcohol free
And at first you may just think you will just have dust to eat as that’s pretty much everything, right! But slowly and surely I’ve been able to incorporate little changes that do go a long way. I’m not 100% on the diet as I have found when I do this I fall off the wagon after a few weeks, binging on all the stuff I can’t have and end up feeling dreadful. So I’ve limited it to special occasions and meals out I will be more relaxed and at home I follow it.
By all means explore other versions of the diet and see what suits you, you may not need one that’s so restrictive, for example but this book is a good introduction xxxxx
