I posted a few months ago before I was due to have a lap at the end of January. I had my lap and the Mirena coil was inserted and was positive for endo :(. I have had the Mirena for just over just over 2 months now and everything was going great, no pain or periods, until the end of last month. I began getting extreme cramping and lower back pain so bad I couldn't even move, this has been going on for a week now. I emailed my surgeon my concerns and she told me I need to get an ultrasound. I had my ultra sound yesterday and my Mirena was in place so that was a relief, however they have concerns that my body may be rejecting the hormones. I would just like to know other people experiences with the Mirena and what are my other options if I have to get it removed. I'm only 19 and am at Uni so its getting a bit hard to manage with constant pain.
p.s. Sorry for the rant any help would be appreciated

I’ve tried two coils over the years - one copper and one mirena. Didn’t get on with either and someone once mentioned maybe because I hadn’t ever had a pregnancy my womb was so small it couldn’t handle it. Was really painful cramping and bled pretty much constantly for months.
The hormones in the mirena made me slightly batsh*t crazy too! Turns out I am really sensitive to progesterone in any form.
The coil just doesn’t suit some people - go back to your consultant to discuss alternatives if you are not happy.
I had the Mirena coil fitted, my body didn’t react well, after several infections, trips to A and E and being admitted to SAU, I had it removed and went back on the Sanaya press. I suffered terrible bleeding and abdominal pains, scans showed it was perfectly in place but I felt it just wasn’t for me. To be honest my symptoms (other than the bleeding) haven’t improved and I’m awaiting a diagnostic laparoscopy.
Maybe speak with your GP/consultant to explore other options?
