Late period after surgery and don’t know whether I’m late cause the surgery or because I might actually be pregnant ?

I had an ovarian cyst surgery removal 2 weeks ago almost 3 weeks now and I’m now 5 days late for my period I have all the symptoms I have before I come on my cycle but one. A couples days before my surgery I had intercourse both days and it was on my ovulation day I have been feeling fatigued , headaches , cramps , super nauseous , insomnia , backaches & using the bathroom alot. I wanna know if my cycle could be late because the surgery or can it be a chance I might be pregnant? & how long should I wait to take a pregnancy test if so ?

Hi Lala_B,

That's a really tricky one - surgery can, and often does, hugely disrupt your cycle, and can also cause a lot of the symptoms that you've described as your body has been completely thrown off course.

As it's 5 days overdue I'd perhaps take a test now, and if it's negative, I'd just be sure to use contraception (unless of course you want to get pregnant) until your period eventually does show up - and then you'll also be aware of your cycle again (which may have changed) xx
