Has my endo returned 1 month after laparoscopy? Or am I being parinoid!

The pain I was experiencing before I had my endo excised via laparoscopy feels like it has come back šŸ˜©. Which was burning and dragging feeling in tummy, pain in lower back and feeling nauseous. I had my laparoscopy a month ago and the BSGE approved consultant I had said I had deep infiltrating endo which he said he excised all of it... Should I be worried or is it normal to feel like this during healing?

Iā€™m sorry to say its quite possible it could be endo pain again :( however you are still quite early into your recovery journey and as you get more active you could be slightly irritating the surgery sites as it sounds as if what your surgeon did was quite extensive.

If excision surgery was a complete cure I wouldnā€™t be on my 6th excision surgery :( I manage symptoms through diet and lifestyle and would be happy to discuss it further if youā€™re interested xx

Hi thanks for messaging. oh dear! šŸ˜© I spose itā€™s only been 4 weeks so hopefully Iā€™m just healing!! I had deep infiltrating endo on my pelvic side wall, uterosacral ligament and a tiny bit on my appendix and on one of my ovaries. So there was quite a lot to remove.

It just makes you so parinoid thinking at any point it can come back and then have to have more surgery. Iā€™m so sorry you have had to go through it 6 times!! šŸ™

I have changed my diet to a more anti inflammatory diet so I have cut out gluten, dairy, soy and red meat. I donā€™t want to take any hormone treatment as I have never got on with bc pills! and just want to do it the natural way.

If you have any good tips Iā€™d love to hear them! šŸ’›

Hey, you're still really early on in your recovery. Specialists usually advise waiting about 4 to 5 months post excision lap to see how your symptoms are that's usually why a follow up is booked around then. If you don't have one booked, ring the secretary and get one booked in, that way they can track how you're recovering and next steps.

Usually after excision when fully healed you should be looking at about 50% reduction in symptoms. But you're still healing at the moment; our bodies can't tell the difference between removal of endo pain and endo pain so we associate it with endo still being there. Don't worry they have removed all they could! It'll just be that your lap was quite invasive so may take about 2 months for you to feel the benefits, so give it time.

It took me about 6 weeks to feel small improvements and about 4 months to feel like my symptoms had improved.

Obviously keep an eye on how you're feeling, and keep active, it'll help recovery xx
