Temporary menopause...

Seen the doctor yesterday and demanded they do something because I’m in constant pain, they suggested putting me through the temporary menopause until my op (which I’m still waiting for a date). Has anyone gone or going through this and have an info on it? Thanks xxx

Hi there, I was given Prostap injections to put me into temporary menopause prior to my surgery, I felt great and the pain went away completely within 2 weeks. I did put on weight which is less than ideal, but I was blissfully more comfortable than I had been in years! Lots of info can be found online about Prostap and how it works. Hope that helps x

Hi Killola! Dose prostap have side effects?

Thanks xx

Hi Meganjaye,

Same here, I am taking primolut n to have a menopause but still don't know when my lap is and it's really annoying 😖 (concerning the side effects)

What are you taking to stop the bleeding?

Best of luck xxx

They offered me zoladex which sounds the same as u .. while I wait for my op but I’ve read so many bad things it’s put me off .. I haven’t tried for kids yet and I didn’t neat to start messing even more with my hormones but my endo nurse says it can be really effective and take away the symptoms .. not sure still ?

I’ve got mris booked for the 5th March then they will tell

Me what op I need

Xx

I had no discernible side effects other than the weight gain, I had a couple of hot and sticky moments but had been in so much pain and discomfort previously being without was such a relief. Previously even toileting was traumatic.... I can only talk from my experience, but if I was presented with the same choice again, I would take it.

Hi. I am on zoladex without hrt. For me it's been very good. My pain is gone which is incredible. I chose not to have hrt. I have hot flushes and some difficulty sleeping but for me this is preferable to what I had before!

I’m in triptorolin the pain is so much better but the side effects aren’t good, hot sweats, anxiety, moods etc but much better than all the pain. I have been in them 8 months now no hrt as I tried it and it caused a really bad flare up x

I've been on prostap with hrt (livial) since feb 2018. First as a trial (6 months) to see how I get on with it.... it was best move ever - no pain, yes I have gained a little weight around the midsection ( I can go training and eat healthier for that) I'm still on it awaiting my hysterectomy date to come through. At the 6 month review I was offered 3 options

1 come off and my symptoms could come back - I'm about start back at college so no thanks

2 try contraceptive- I'm an evil psychotic bitch with the pill

3 hysterectomy - I almost took his arm off as I said yes so quickly. I was expecting a fight but he thought that was my best route and was going to advise that anyway.

I'm 44 with one child and single... oh yes and got a unicoronate womb to top it off. thus would make any pregnancy consultant led as well. I can't wait for the operation. I know it won't cure the endo (consultant warned me as well) but any thing is better than the endo pain and no life. sorry for long reply.
