Hi, this is my first post. I've had a stabbing pain in my sides since my teens, but it got really severe around 5 years ago, and I had a week of extreme pain in the middle of my cycle, and then another 5 days before my period. My cycle was only 3 weeks, so this had a massive impact on my life.
My GP was ace, and referred me to a gynaecologist, who recommended a mirena coil. I've had this in for nearly 2 years now, and it has helped massively, in that the pain is much more intermittent. I can go 3 or 4 months with "normal" levels of pain, but then I'll get a month that floors me. So I was given a laparoscopy last week.
I was expecting they would find something obvious, cut it out and problem solved. However, they said they didn't find anything that looked typical of endo, though they did find some scar tissue. I was completely dosy from the GA at the time, and I wish I had asked more questions. I have a 3-4 week wait for biopsy results now.
I don't understand why they didn't just remove the adhesion - surely that must be the cause of the pain, regardless of whether it is endo or not.
Does the mirena suppress the endo and make it harder to spot?
I'll add my paperwork, if that means anything to anyone. Has anyone had similar? I know no one can tell me what they were thinking, but if anyone has had to wait for biopsy results then it would be good to know what happened next, to prepare me for the possible options.
It was an 8 month wait for this laparoscopy, so dreading another 8 month wait, or being told there is nothing they can do.
