I was prescribed this back in 2013/2014 for around 6 months and again in 2018 (still on it now)
Can anyone help me?? Is this the same as Lupron??
Why can I only find information based on people taking it for Prostate cancer?? (I know that’s what it’s meant for)
I am having a really hard time my spine is getting so incredibly painful, my entire spine! Something doesn’t seem right but drs aren’t listening to me, after reading some story about Lupron victims I began to wonder if it may be down to the triptorelin.
Anyone had similar experiences? Xxx

Hi Lea1983, sorry you are feeling so grotty at the moment.
Reduced bone density and skeletal (especially spinal pain) is a well established side effect of GnRH Analogue/Agonist Treatments such as Gonapeptyl and both your GPs and your prescribing Specialist should be monitoring you closely if you have started to suffer this particular side effect - including carrying out Dexa bone density scans etc.
Have you a copy of the manufacterer’s Summary of Product Characteristics? This details the drug’s side effects and offers advice to medical professional on how to monitor and manage those side effects. You can find it online here:
It might be worth printing a copy off and taking it along with you to your next appointment or citing the relevent sections when you next email or call your GP / Specialist. A dose of add-back HRT is usually prescribed alongside GnRH Analogue/Agonist treatment to reduce the severity of side effects such as reduced bone density and skeletal/spinal pain, it may be worth asking about this if you are not already being prescribed add-back HRT. If you are already being prescribed it then you may need your dose adjusted as it is not a “one size fits all” thing and some women need more add-back HRT than others.
I hope this helps and that you are feeling better soon, x X x
