Over granulation of skin in belly button after lap?? !!WITH PIC!!!

Has anyone had any over granulation of skin after there lap? I had mine on Dec 1st and been leaking since then had swabs all came back clear but the red bit of skin seems to be getting slightly bigger ? Has anyone had the same and how did it turn out ? Only slightly uncomfortable when I touch it but not smelly or red 😕 xx

Hi there,

Thank you for posting, I had my op a month ago too and am in the same position; you are not alone! I don't have any answers unfortunately but I have booked a check up with the nurse this week to see if there is anything that can help, that is my only advice.

All the best

X

You need to see someone as they can either use a silver nitrate stick on it or a special dressing. It needs sorting or it will continue to weep & grow.

If you’ve got a good practice nurse she will do it or gp

Been to the nurse must be 6-7 times now they just put a clean dressing on it and say it’s normal

there right it is not uncommon to over granulate but if it’s not healing/improving after 4 weeks then it needs a bit of help. The whole area looks wet and irritated to me. I agree it’s not infected but If I saw it (I’m a nurse) and it’s not healing then it needs some help such as a different dressing. If you google over granulation then it might give you some back up. Good luck & I hope it heals soon x
